Our transfer portal names to know series involves players with confirmed/rumored interest and/or interesting connections with IU basketball.

Alabama transfer power forward Aiden Sherrell is a name to know this cycle for IU basketball.

The 6-foot-11 and 255-pound Sherrell is from Detroit, Mich.

Indiana has been named by national reporters at On3 and 247Sports as one of the teams involved with Sherrell, who has ties to new assistant coach Thomas Carr.  The other teams involved based on those reports are Duke, LSU, Michigan, Michigan State, BYU, Baylor, North Carolina, Providence and Missouri.

Sherrell entered the portal with a do not contact tag.

As a sophomore in 2025-26, Sherrell played and started in 34 games.  He averaged 11.1 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 2.2 blocks per game.  He ranked No. 2 in the SEC in blocks and No. 13 in Division I.  He recorded 76 blocks, which ranks No. 7 on Alabama’s all-time single season list.

Sherrell’s shooting splits were 53.8% overall, 33.3% from three (on 78 attempts), and 71.4% at the free throw line.

As a freshman in 2024-25, Sherrell played in 36 games off the bench, averaging 3.4 points, 2.8 rebounds and 0.4 assists per game.  He scored double-digits in two contests, including a season-high 12 points on Feb. 1 vs. Georgia.  He made a season-high two three-pointers on four separate occasions, including twice during the NCAA Tournament against BYU and Duke.  His freshman shooting splits were 51.1% overall, 33.3% from three (on 42 attempts) and 46.3% at the stripe.

Sherrell has two years of eligibility remaining.

He was a 2024 McDonald’s All-American, and ranked as the No. 21 overall recruit by ESPN, No. 23 by On3 and No. 30 by 247Sports in the 2024 class.
