Clemson basketball coach Brad Brownell’s name generated considerable buzz during the recent IU basketball job search. As it turns out, there was at least a conversation involving the Indiana native and IU. But Brownell does not appear to be interested in remaining in coaching long term, and sought an arrangement that he might have only been able to find at Clemson. The offers just keep coming from this new Indiana coaching staff. Tennessee-based class of 2027 wing Malachi Jordan is the latest high school prospect to report an Indiana offer.  That came on Tuesday evening via his social media pages. New Indiana assistant coach Rod Clark was recruiting Jordan for Tennessee before joining Darian DeVries’ staff. Indiana left too many runners on base in their pool play opener in the Big Ten Tournament at Charles Schwab Field Tuesday afternoon. And a 5-2 loss to No. 10 seed Rutgers means the Hoosiers’ season will almost certainly be coming to an end in Omaha before the weekend. IU didn’t score until a Devin Taylor two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth.  They had 10 hits but left 11 runners on base. Indiana has offered class of 2026 4-star wing Cole Cloer, he announced on Tuesday. The 6-foot-7 Cloer attends Caldwell Academy in Hillsborough, N.C.  He averaged 18.9 points with 7.2 rebounds and 3.8 assists as a high school junior.  He shot 40.7% from three while leading his team to a state championship. The Big Ten office announced its postseason baseball awards on Tuesday afternoon, and in total, seven Hoosiers were honored by the league, led by Big Ten Freshman of the Year – Jake Hanley. Junior outfielder Devin Taylor was named First Team All-Big Ten for the third time in his career, becoming the first IU player since Mickey Morandini (1986-88) to accomplish the feat. Indiana has offered class of 2027 national top-10 wing Bruce Branch III, his AAU program announced. The 6-foot-7 Branch attends Perry H.S. in Gilbert Ariz.  As a sophomore he averaged 11.2 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.9 assists per contest to help the Pumas (27-2) capture their fourth consecutive state championship. Kyle Schwarber sent his 300th career home run out of the park in classic Kyle Schwarber style. The former Hoosier baseball star crushed his milestone homer off the facing of the upper deck at Coors Field in Colorado Monday evening. The distance of Schwarber’s 300th was estimated to be 466 feet, with an exit velocity of 109.3. The solo home run came in the top of the ninth inning and gave the Phillies an insurance run on their way to a 9-3 win. The Indiana coaching staff looked West this week and offered Arizona big man Cameron Williams. The 6-foot-10 power forward attends St. Mary’s H.S. in Phoenix, Ariz.  There he averaged 18 points, 11.2 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 2.6 blocks, and 1.8 steals per game.  He shot 51% from the field and 36% from three and his team won the state title. Indiana offered Tennessee forward Trey Thompson on Monday, he announced on his social media pages. Thompson reported the offer came via a phone call with new assistant coach Kenny Johnson.  He’s also connected to new assistant Rod Clark, who offered and recruited him when Clark was an assistant coach at Tennessee.
