Indiana basketball is still waiting for clarity as the programs completes its roster rebuild. New head coach Darian DeVries has 11 scholarship players on board so far, but getting to the target of 13 has been complicated as two players from last year’s team attempt to return. Based on a report by Jeff Goodman, Indiana is expected to hire former Sam Houston assistant Justin Bailey as the director of player personnel. Indiana has not yet confirmed the report. Bailey had the title of associate head coach at Sam Houston, where he coached incoming transfer guard Lamar Wilkerson.  He was tasked with overseeing defensive responsibilities at Sam Houston. Before Sam Houston, Bailey spent two seasons an assistant coach for Pittsburg State and was promoted to associate head coach during the 2020-21 campaign. Volleyball in Indiana will take center stage at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis as the state’s two premier programs meet for the 45th edition of the Monon Spike Match on Thursday, October 16th. Troy transfer guard Tayton Conerway will withdraw his name from consideration for the NBA Draft ahead of the early entry withdrawal deadline on Wednesday.  He’ll finish his college career at IU. That expected news came according to a Monday report by Jon Rothstein. Conerway was the Sun Belt Player of the Year in 2024-25, averaging 14.2 points, 4.8 assists, 4.6 rebounds and 2.9 steals on 47.1% shooting from the field in 34 games. Was Indiana football always a sleeping giant, simply short on the necessary investment to the elevate the program, and often lacking a competent head coach? Indiana would have had an easier postseason path in 2024 under the new College Football Playoff format. The College Football Playoff (CFP) Management Committee voted to unanimously Thursday to modify the seeding and bye policies of the 12-team Playoff for the 2025-26 season. The new policy will guarantee the five highest-ranked conference champions a place in the Playoff, but will no longer include a bye for the four highest-ranked champions. The 12-team bracket will now be seeded directly based on the final ranking of the CFP Selection Committee, with the four highest-ranked teams receiving a first-round bye. If one or…

Indiana will be pushing hard for a commitment when 2026 wing Sammy Jackson visits next month. According to a report by Joe Tipton of On3, Jackson has narrowed his recruitment to four schools — IU, Texas, VCU and St. Joe’s.  He plans to announce his college decision on June 25. Jackson is visiting IU June 13-14 and that will be followed by a visit to Texas June 16-17. The 6-foot-7 Jackson attends Roman Catholic H.S. in Philadelphia. He helped lead Roman to the PIAA 6A title game and averaged 13.4 points, 4.9 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.2 steals per game.…

After spring practice and the final wave of transfers, Indiana is ranked No. 23 in the latest 2025 preseason ESPN SP+ model. Going into the the 2024 season that same model produced by Bill Connelly had the Hoosiers projected to be the No. 81 team in the nation.  They climbed all the way to No. 11 by the end of the historic 11-2 campaign. New IU basketball head coach Darian DeVries will lead the Hoosiers on foreign tour in a couple months. Indiana will be in Puerto Rico Aug. 5-12 and play three games, two against Mega Superbet and one against the Puerto Rico All Star team, based on an e-mail that went out to IU Varsity Club members on Thursday. IU is after one of the fastest rising players in the 2026 class.  And he’s one of the biggest too. The new Indiana staff offered 7-foot and 280-pound rising senior center Arafan Diané a couple weeks ago. National recruiting outlet 247Sports named him this week as the top center in the 2026 class and No. 22 overall player.  While the rankings updates cycle through, he’s currently listed as a 4-star, the No. 109 overall player in the class, and the No. 12 center according to the average of the national recruiting sites.
