After replacing its offensive coordinator last month, Indiana is now in the market for a new defensive coordinator. Charlton Warren has left Indiana to become the co-defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach at North Carolina that program announced on Saturday. North Carolina also announced Gene Chizik as assistant head coach for defense. IU head coach Tom Allen previously said he consulted Chizik prior to hiring Warren in 2021. Class of 2023 center Austin Parks is down to three schools his AAU program Ohio Buckets reported on Friday evening. The 6-foot-10 and 240 pound Parks will choose between a final three of Indiana, Ohio State and West Virginia. Indiana is searching for a new defensive line coach. The University of Missouri announced on Friday Kevin Peoples is headed to that school to take on the same role. Missouri football head coach Eliah Drinkwitz once played under Peoples. Under Peoples, a 29-year coaching veteran, IU led the Big Ten in sacks for the first time in program history in 2020, his first season with the program. Jerome Johnson, who signed a free-agent contract with the Miami Dolphins, became the first Hoosiers defensive tackle to earn first-team all-conference honors since Hurvin McCormack in 1993. Indiana wasted no time making it official with quarterback Connor Bazelak. The IU football program formally announced on Friday afternoon in a release that Bazelak has joined the Hoosiers as a transfer from the University of Missouri. Former Missouri quarterback Connor Bazelak is transferring to Indiana he announced on Thursday. A Dayton, Ohio product, this year the 6-foot-3 and 212 pound Bazelak threw for 2,540 yards, 16 touchdowns and 11 interceptions in 11 games with the Tigers. In 2020 he was the SEC’s co-freshman of the year. In two-plus seasons at Missouri, Bazelak threw for 5,058 yards with 25 total touchdowns (two rushing) and 17 interceptions.
