Indiana projects to have front court openings next season, and the working assumption is that they will address those needs via the transfer portal in the spring. Indiana was never down by more than six in the second half, but they couldn’t seem to get over the hump. When they finally did go in front on an Aleksa Gulbe 3-pointer with 4:26 left in the game, the floodgates opened. The Hoosiers closed the game on a 14-0 run to take down a pesky Minnesota squad 80-70 at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. Mike Woodson has said he believes his father worked himself to death trying to take care of him and his 11 siblings on the near northeast side of Indianapolis in the ’50s and ’60s. And when Chester Woodson passed away in 1971, a 13-year-old Michael Dean Woodson followed suit — he put his head down and got work. Indiana has offered class of 2025 guard Darryn Peterson, he reported on his Twitter page on Wednesday evening. Peterson is a 6-foot-5 freshman guard at Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy in Cuyahoga, Ohio. For AAU basketball he played last spring and summer for Adidas affiliated Wildcats Select based out of Pennsylvania. He played up two age groups for most of 2021 and at times three. Juwan Burgess will seek a sixth season in college football elsewhere. A redshirt senior in 2021 for Indiana, Burgess played in 11 games as a reserve safety and on special teams. He registered 14 tackles including one for a loss. Over his four year playing career he appeared in 42 games and had 76 tackles including five for loss to go with three passes defended, two forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries. Indiana head football coach Tom Allen announced on Wednesday the signing of defensive lineman J’mari Monette and quarterback Brendan Sorsby to National Letters of Intent to play for the Hoosiers in 2022. Monette and Sorsby close out IU’s signing class at 32 student-athletes. Twenty-two of the 32 signed National Letters of Intent, while 10 transfers will suit up for Indiana in the fall. Indiana has made a late addition to its recruiting class of 2022 on the traditional national signing day. Alexandria (La.) High School defensive lineman J’Mari Monette has signed to play in Bloomington for the Hoosiers IU announced on its Twitter page on Wednesday. Indiana is relatively healthy right now and has been throughout Mike Woodson’s first season in Bloomington. After Trey Galloway returned from wrist surgery last month, the Hoosiers have had 12 or 13 scholarship players available for just about every game. Disaster appears to have been averted on the recruiting front. Two of Indiana’s top-rated recruits in program history say they intend to stay in Bloomington despite their father leaving the program. Class of 2022 top-100 4-star linebacker Dasan McCullough announced on Tuesday “I’m Home” in a graphic on his Twitter page that included a photo of him wearing an Indiana hat.
