Indiana has only seen a handful of defections since the transfer portal opened this month, but a promising young tight end was added to the list on Friday. Freshman Brody Kosin announced he was leaving IU after just one season.  Kosin did not see the field at all in 2024. “After a long conversation with my family I’ve decided to enter the transfer portal with 4 years of eligibility left, thank you to everyone at Indiana University who helped me out on and off the field,” Kosin wrote on his X account. The 6-foot-6 Kosin came to IU out of…

Indiana has made significant additions via the transfer portal over the last few weeks at every offensive position but one. And the Hoosiers mostly escaped significant injuries in 2024 at every position but one. Those two variables combined lead to what looks like Indiana’s most obvious need on the offensive side of the ball heading into 2025:  Offensive line. Two of the team’s top performers from 2024 are out of eligibility:  Center Mike Katic and right tackle Trey Wedig.  They leave two massive holes to fill. And the Hoosiers lost two starting guards to injury over the last four months…

The recruiting front has been relatively quiet for IU basketball lately, but there have been been a couple developments. There’s a new name to monitor on the class of 2025 board after Jaziah Harper visited Indiana last week for the game against Chattanooga. A lefty sharpshooter, Harper also recently visited Wisconsin and he holds offers from several D1 programs.  He is from Illinois and attended Oak Park River Forest prior to coming to Bosco Institute in Crown Point, Ind.  Bosco plays some national competition including nearby La Lumiere. The 6-foot-6 Harper got a visit from IU Director of Player Development…

Depending on personnel groupings, Indiana can play three safeties at once — free, strong and rover.  And as of Thursday morning they only have five safeties projected on the 2025 roster.  So there is a clear need on the backend of the defense going forward, both for starters and depth. The Hoosiers do have 10 players at cornerback right now for 2025, and some of the roles are interchangeable, especially rover.  So there could be moves made from within to balance things out. Indiana has one starter returning at safety in 2025, and that player, Amare Ferrell, is very versatile. …

Indiana made a major addition to their wide receiver room on Christmas Eve. Appalachian State wideout Makai Jackson has signed with the Hoosiers for 2025 according to multiple reports. As a junior for the Mountaineers in 2024, Jackson finished with 46 catches for 745 yards and five touchdowns.  He earned third-team All-Sun Belt Conference. In two seasons with Appalachian State, Makai Jackson amassed 73 catches for 1,163 yards and seven touchdowns. He also ran five times for 90 yards and a score.  He had five catches for 49 yards against Curt Cignetti and James Madison in 2023. A product of…

Indiana will have brothers in their quarterback room next year. And IU almost certainly has their starting QB for the 2025 season. According to multiple reports, Fernando Mendoza has committed to the Hoosiers.  He’ll join his brother, freshman quarterback Alberto Mendoza in Bloomington next month. ESPN’s Pete Thamel appeared to be the first to break the news. Mendoza was one of the top overall players available in the portal.  He also considered Missouri, Georgia, UCLA, and others.  He took visits to at least IU, Missouri and Georgia over the past couple weeks. While leading Cal to a 6-6 season, the…

IU football has not seen a player selected in the NFL Draft for two years. That run of futility was preceded by them having at least one player selected every year from 2014-2022. It looks like a new streak will begin in 2025, as several Hoosiers have the potential to be chosen by an NFL franchise in April. ESPN’s Matt Miller projects as many as five IU players could be selected in next spring’s draft.  Here’s how Miller suggested that might go for the Hoosiers: Round 3: DE Mikail Kamara Round 4: QB Kurtis Rourke Round 6: DT CJ West…

He averaged 4.9 yards per carry.  He has also caught 112 passes for 921 passing yards and five touchdowns.  Hemby is eighth all-time in Maryland program history…

The unquestioned leader of Indiana’s defense is coming back for his senior year season. Linebacker Aiden Fisher announced on social media Sunday evening “More work to be done. Run it back,” signaling his intent to utilize his final year of eligibility in Bloomington. Named a FWAA first-team All-American and first-team All-Big Ten, Fisher led the team and ranked third in the Big Ten in total tackles at 108 stops on the season.  He started all 12 games and chipped in eight-plus tackles in eight games on the season, with four double-digit tackle games.  He had 4.0 tackles for loss, 1.5…

Upton Sinclair wrote that “it is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends on his not understanding it.” One-by-one they’ve lined up on the national airwaves and on social media, and took turns wasting your time with absurd takes. Captive to their masters at Disney, parent company of ESPN and ABC, (Read: Networks not part of the Big Ten’s media rights deal), we’ve heard one nauseating claim after another how an 11-1 team from the Big Ten wasn’t supposed to be in the 12-team College Football Playoff. Say what? It started during the live broadcast,…
