Indiana handed the Old Oaken Bucket back to Purdue on Saturday in West Lafayette, and with that their season mercifully came to an end. At a sold-out Ross-Ade Stadium in West Lafayette, the Hoosiers’ offense did what it has done many times in recent weeks — produced early points. And then the offense did what it has done for most of the season — next to nothing on a day that started rainy and cold but cleared as the afternoon turned to evening. For IU the day did the exact opposite — started bright and quickly turned gloomy. Walk-on quarterback…
Washington scored a golden goal in the 97th minute to end Indiana’s 2021 season by a final score of 3-2. The Hoosiers took a 1-0 lead into halftime after Victor Bezerra scored on a penalty kick after he was taken down in the box. Playing on their home field in Seattle, Washington tied it up in the 48th minute in what became a back and forth affair after the break. Spencer Glass trailed an attack and dropped in a shot towards the far post to regain the lead, 2-1, but Washington found the equalizer in the 75th minute to force…

Indiana fans watched with horror as brick after brick clanged off the rim in Mike Woodson’s debut against Eastern Michigan on Nov. 9. Here. We. Go. Again. The Hoosiers made just 4-of-24 attempts from behind the 3-point arc in that contest, including two of their last 22. Poor 3-point shooting has plagued Indiana since the 2016-17 season when they made 38 percent of their attempts, good for 48th nationally. Since that season IU’s poor 3-point shooting became a constant that became an albatross around Archie Miller’s neck. His teams never shot better than 32.6 percent from long range, and never…

Throughout much of his press conference immediately following the loss to Minnesota last Saturday, Tom Allen’s voice was barely audible. It was the same dejected, frustrated, bewildered Allen we’ve seen at the post-game podium for several weeks in a row. “Not to our standard, not acceptable,” Allen said quietly with his head down. “And it’s not been that way for most of the season. So pretty frustrating.” But then, off microphone as he left the press conference, Allen literally pivoted to week 12, and his words, and his energy could not have been more clear. “Beat Purdue!” he yelled to…
