The 37-year-old Bell will be Tom Allen’s fourth offensive coordinator in six seasons, following Mike DeBord, Kalen DeBoer and Nick Sheridan. Four year Indiana quarterback Michael Penix, Jr. is in the transfer portal after a roller coaster career in Bloomington. Penix confirmed the news in a Monday Instagram post. “I’ve officially decided to enter the transfer portal,” he wrote. “I feel blessed to have been able to represent Indiana University. Indiana picked up its fourth transfer of the day when former North Carolina wide receiver Emery Simmons announced he is headed to Bloomington. The 6-foot-1 and 190 pound Simmons had 243 yards and a touchdown in five games this year, including 110 yards against Georgia Tech in late September. He put his name in the transfer portal in early November. For his three season career in Chapel Hill, Simmons had 30 catches for 516 yards and three touchdowns. Indiana picked up its third transfer commit on Sunday when former Miami, Fla. linebacker Bradley Jennings, Jr. announced he was playing in Bloomington next year. “I’m a Hoosier,” Jennings, Jr. simply posted on his Twitter page. Jennings started all 11 games for Miami in 2020 and finished with 39 tackles, but he fell to a reserve role in 2021. Jennings was credited with 14 tackles and two hurries in eight games this season. Former Rebels Patrick Lucas and LeDarrius Cox visited Bloomington over the weekend and both announced their commitment to Indiana this afternoon. Listed at 6-foot-3 and 320 pounds, Lucas was a unanimous 3-star prospect in the class of 2019 according to the major recruiting outlets.
