It may not have been much of a test, but a shorthanded Indiana squad got back in the win column as the non-conference slate draws to a close. The Hoosiers got off to a sluggish start — where have you heard this before — and led just 25-22 with 7:54 left in the first half. But IU closed the first half on a 10-0 run to take a 47-29 lead into the break. Elon never got closer than 14 the rest of the way. Indiana won it, 96-72. Let’s take a deeper look at how the Hoosiers won with another…
The injuries are mounting for Indiana. The Hoosiers were without three main rotation players on Tuesday evening when they faced Elon in Bloomington. Coach Mike Woodson said junior forward Jordan Geronimo came up to him before the game and said he was unable to play against the Phoenix. “Jordan’s injury is a dislocated finger, and he tried to go a little yesterday,” Woodson said on Tuesday evening following Indiana’s 96-72 win over Elon. Geronimo could be seen on the sidelines with his left middle finger heavily wrapped. “With Geronimo it’s basically how much pain he can tolerate with his dislocated…

Indiana forward Trayce Jackson-Davis is not in uniform for pre-game warmups on Tuesday evening as the Hoosiers get set to face Elon. Jackson-Davis missed a game earlier in the season against Little Rock due to a back injury. He has also dealt with a right thumb injury during the first month of the season. Indiana released the following brief statement on Jackson-Davis: “As he did earlier this season against Little Rock, senior Trayce Jackson-Davis will not play for precautionary reasons,” IU Athletics said. Jackson-Davis could be seen standing on the floor during warmups without any visible medical devices or limitations.…
Perhaps more than anyone else on the roster, IU freshman forward Malik Reneau was a revelation over the first few games of the season. Of course the top-40 Montverde Academy product was expected to play a role right away, but it was the way he was impacting games early that had folks buzzing about the 6-foot-9, 233 pounder from Miami, Fla. And Reneau’s production wasn’t just limited to the wins over cupcakes. Reneau had 12 points and six rebounds in just 16 minutes against Xavier, giving Indiana a spark off the bench that played a major role in an important…
A.J. Thomas was an IU commit for all of three months. The Louisiana-based edge rusher announced on Monday evening he has decided to stay home. He flipped his commitment from Indiana to Tulane. According to the 247Sports Composite, the 6-foot-3 and 220-pound Thomas is a 3-star prospect, the No. 928 overall player in the class, and the No. 87 edge rusher. Thomas is the fourth player to decommit from IU’s 2023 class, following Daeh McCullough, Denzel Moore,…
Indiana head coach Mike Woodson gave a brief update on starting point guard Xavier Johnson Monday evening. Johnson suffered a foot injury against Kansas on Saturday and was later seen in a walking boot on his right foot with crutches on the IU bench. “Right now we’re still evaluating him, he’s kind of day-to-day,” Woodson said on his Monday evening radio show. “He won’t play tomorrow (Tuesday vs. Elon), and we’ll probably know more Wednesday to see exactly where we are with him.” Johnson appeared to suffer the injury during in awkward fall in the first half at Allen Fieldhouse…
