Former IU basketball one-and-done star Noah Vonleh has fought his way back to the NBA. According to a report by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Vonleh has made the opening night roster of the Boston Celtics after playing in China a year ago. Vonleh signed a training camp deal with the Celtics, and he finished the preseason with a 14-point, 13-rebound game against the Charlotte Hornets, the team that drafted him as a lottery pick in 2014. Playing in Boston is a return home for Vonleh, who is a native of Haverhill, Mass. “The journey continues,” Vonleh told reporters earlier this week.…

Victor Oladipo’s career at Indiana had bookend tearful moments. In March of 2013 he laid face down on the court in Ann Arbor, pounding the floor, his eyes welled up, after helping to lead the Hoosiers to a first outright Big Ten title in 20 years. It was the culmination of events that had led Oladipo from unwanted high school prospect to NBA Draft lottery pick that had overcome the junior guard on that afternoon. But a few years earlier, still in the early stages of his massive climb, the tears flowed for a much different reason. The day he…

Indiana has had a third player decommit from its 2023 class. On Thursday, 3-star defensive back Travon West announced he has reopened his recruitment. “I want to start off by saying I thank everyone a part of the Indiana staff for believing and taking the chance on me,” West wrote. “After talks with my family and coaches, I’ve decided to decommit from Indiana University and reopen my recruitment.” Indiana currently has just nine commits in its 2023 recruiting class. Head coach Tom Allen said in August he expects a relatively small class size due to limited available roster spots. Previously,…

Is John Calipari getting soft in his old age? After more than a decade of resisting any efforts to play Indiana in Bloomington again, the Kentucky head coach and his administration may be about to sign off on a return trip or two to Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. We told you a couple weeks ago the revival of the Indiana vs. Kentucky basketball series was gaining momentum. National college basketball analyst Jon Rothstein amplified that reporting, with some added wrinkles. The discussions are advanced, and include on campus games. “Indiana and Kentucky are in advanced discussions to play a multi-year…
