The transfer portal giveth and taketh, and this fall five players who have played quarterback for Indiana will be on  FBS rosters beyond Bloomington. Here’s a quick look at them and their outlooks for the 2025 campaign. Dexter Williams will be the starting quarterback for Kennesaw State in week two when they travel to Indiana to face the Hoosiers.  He won the job at the Owls’ fall camp.  Williams made five appearances in 2024 for Georgia Southern and finished the season 19-for-30 and 248 yards and three passing touchdowns.  He also finished with 45 rushing yards and a rushing TD.…

For the second straight year, IU basketball will take on a high major opponent in a preseason exhibition. The Hoosiers will face Baylor on Sunday, Oct. 26 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in downtown Indianapolis, Ind. The tip-time for the game has not been announced, but a link to buy tickets is available by GOING HERE.  The Indianapolis Colts will host the Tennessee Titans down the street at Lucas Oil Stadium that same day at 4:25 p.m. ET. For the fourth year in a row, Indiana will host Marian University for a home exhibition game. The Hoosiers and Knights will play on Friday, Oct. 17 inside Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall in Bloomington. The game is part of homecoming weekend.  IU football will host Michigan State the following day. Marian features head coach Pat Knight, a former IU basketball player and the son of legendary IU coach Bob Knight.  Former IU basketball great Steve Downing is the Director of Athletics at the Indianapolis-based school. Class of 2026 point guard Tay Kinney continues to narrow towards what is becoming a more manageable and realistic group of college finalists. The Kentucky-based guard announced a final-eight on Thursday that includes Indiana, along with Arkansas, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisville, Miami, Oregon, and Texas. The 6-foot-2 Kinney, who attends Overtime Elite in Atlanta, has visited or has a visit scheduled to all of his finalists.  He’s coming to Indiana next weekend, Aug. 29-31. ESPN has posted its matchup predictor to each of the Gamecast pages for Indiana’s 2025 football season. The matchup predictor is based on the outlet’s Football Power Index (FPI), a computer model that has the Hoosiers ranked No. 25 headed into the 2025 season.  Indiana moved up from No. 31 in June for reasons that aren’t entirely clear. Indiana is getting a visit from national top-20 class of 2027 guard Davion Thompson later this month.  He’ll be on campus Aug. 28 according to national 247Sports analyst Dushawn London. The 6-foot-2 Thompson is a 4-star, and the No. 18 overall player in the 2027 class according to the average of the national recruiting sites. A product of Bolingbrook, Ill., Thompson attends national prep program Link Academy. Thompson was first offered by the prior staff, and Darian DeVries and his crew have continued the pursuit. Four of the top-100 players in college football will be wearing an Indiana uniform this fall, says an ESPN panel. That’s among well over 5,000 players throughout all of Power 4, and well over 10,000 throughout the FBS. Five of ESPN’s college football analysts (David Hale, Adam Rittenberg, Chris Low, Paolo Uggetti and Bill Connelly) produced the list “each using some variation of hard data and educated guesswork to compile it.” Interestingly enough, Fernando Mendoza, a player mentioned regularly by the same outlet as a potential 2026 NFL first round draft choice, is not included.  One quarterback who is included…

The San Francisco 49ers today announced they have signed QB Nate Sudfeld to a one-year deal. He’ll share the QB room with fellow former Hoosier Kurtis Rourke.  Defensive tackle C.J. West is also with the NFL franchise. Sudfeld worked out with the team on Monday before signing.  He did not play in 2024 after being released by the Lions during the preseason. The news comes after 49ers backup Mac Jones suffered what is being described as a non-serious knee injury.  Rourke is recovering from ACL surgery and is not expected to be available until later in the season.
