Watch below former IU one-and-done star Romeo Langford’s 2022-23 NBA highlights with the San Antonio Spurs. The 2022-23 season was Langford’s fourth in the NBA.  The New Albany, Ind. product was dealt to the Spurs by Boston last year. The 23 year-old played in 43 games (21 starts) for the Spurs this season and averaged career highs in several categories — minutes (19.6), points (6.9), rebounds (2.7), assists (1.2), and steals (.6). The NBA has announced 78 players who are expected to attend the NBA Draft Combine, scheduled for May 15-21 in Chicago. Among them are Indiana’s Trayce Jackson-Davis and Jalen Hood-Schifino, both of who are expected to be drafted in June. Hood-Schifino is projected to go in the first round.  The most recent mock drafts project a wide range of options for the one-and-done IU guard, with the most favorable we’ve seen at pick No. 11 overall, and the least favorable at No. 27. UPDATE:  Mgbako is announcing on Friday ——————— It’s down to two for 2023 5-star Mackenzie Mgbako. Andrew Slater is reporting the top-10 forward will choose between Indiana and Kansas. IU continues to reinforce its defense via the transfer portal. On Monday evening, Southern University transfer edge rusher Trey Laing announced a commitment to the Hoosiers. The 6-foot-3, 224-pound Laing was recruited by IU assistant Kasey Teegardin and projects to play the hybrid DE/OLB bull position for the Hoosiers. For his 2022 season at Southern, Laing had 39 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, five sacks, two quarterback hurries, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery over 12 contests.  He was tied for 41st in the nation in tackles for loss. For the second time in the last few weeks, Indiana has offered the son of an NBA great. Kiyan Anthony, son of former Syracuse and NBA star Carmelo Anthony, announced an offer from IU on Monday evening. Indiana has been involved with Anthony since 2022. The 6-foot-4 Anthony attends Long Island Lutheran H.S. in New York.  He’s a 4-star prospect in the class of 2025, and the No. 68 overall player in the class according to the On3 Industry Average. As we reported a couple weeks ago, class of 2024 4-star guard Jaeden Mustaf was planning to take a visit to Indiana in June. We now have definitive dates for the visit. Mustaf will be in Bloomington June 8-10 according to Joe Tipton of On3. The 6-foot-6 guard will also visit N.C. State on June 4 according to Tipton.  Mustaf has previously taken an official visit to Florida State. Earlier this year, the Washington, D.C. metro area product named a top-five of Indiana, N.C. A couple more tidbits pertaining to the 2023-24 IU basketball schedule were revealed on Monday afternoon via reports. College basketball reporter Rocco Miller says IU will host Wright State on Nov. 16 at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.  Under head coach Scott Nagy, the Raiders were 18-15 this past season and ranked No. 197 nationally according to KenPom. Indiana has faced Dayton, Ohio based Wright State twice, once in the 1993 NCAA Tournament, and again in 2010.  The Hoosiers won both meetings by wide margins. In recent years IU fans had to sweat it out when it came to NBA Draft stay-or-go decisions by team stars. There was the decision by Juwan Morgan prior to the 2018-19 season, and multiple springs when it wasn’t clear what Trayce Jackson-Davis would do. It’s hard to believe we are still knee deep in roster construction scenarios here in the second week of May.  But that’s where things stand at the moment.
