The emergence of Azavier Robinson as one of the top class of 2025 prospects in the Midwest continues. The rising Lawrence North H.S. (Indianapolis) junior guard is coming off a massive sophomore season for the Wildcats.  The 6-foot-1 Robinson averaged 20.3 points, 7.6 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 2.6 steals in 2022-23. We now know all 31 opponents on Indiana’s 2023-24 schedule. According to a report by Jon Rothstein on Monday, the Hoosiers will host North Alabama on Dec. 21 in Bloomington. This will mark the third time in five years IU has hosted North Alabama.  The Hoosiers won by 26 in 2019 and 35 in 2020. Before he came to IU, Bob Knight became a well known coach at Army in the late 60s. Knight never scheduled the Black Knights during his 29-year run as the Indiana head coach, but his former player Mike Woodson has Army on the Indiana schedule for the first time in program history. According to a report by Jon Rothstein, Indiana will host Army on Nov. 12.  That news means 30 of the Hoosiers’ 31 opponents for the 2023-24 season are now known. Indiana is talking with class of 2024 center Patrick Ngongba about taking an official visit to Bloomington according to a report by Jamie Shaw of On3 from the weekend. The 6-foot-10 Virginia product has been one of the biggest risers in the 2024 class this spring.  He’s now a consensus top-40 prospect nationally in the class across On3, Rivals and 247Sports.  IU offered Ngongba in early May after he posted multiple strong showings in Nike EYBL circuit action. Former Indiana forward Race Thompson will get a chance to compete with the New York Knicks this summer. The IU basketball official Twitter account reported the news Thompson has signed a summer league deal with the NBA franchise. https://twitter.com/IndianaMBB/status/1673014829555040256?s=20 Thompson had multiple workouts during the spring with NBA teams, including his hometown Minnesota Timberwolves. Let’s be clear — mock drafts a year out aren’t worth much. But Indiana does have some high end talent on its 2023-24 roster, and at least one prominent NBA mock draft sees a repeat for IU with two players being selected next June. Just a couple more pieces of the 2023-24 IU basketball scheduling puzzle remain a mystery at this point. On Friday, college basketball reporter Rocco Miller said IU will host Morehead State in Bloomington during the upcoming season.  The date was not included in his announcement. Indiana leads the all-time series with the Eagles 6-0. The Hoosiers opened the 2022-23 season with an 88-53 win over MSU.  IU led 41-29 at halftime and the Hoosiers were led by Trayce Jackson-Davis and Malik Reneau, who each had 15 points. And he told Lakers VP of basketball operations Rob Pelinka there was something different about Jalen Hood-Schifino compared to most players his age. It’s an annual tradition during the NBA Draft. Fans of the local NBA team hope the local college player stays home. Former IU basketball forward Trayce Jackson-Davis was selected in the second round by the Golden State Warriors at the NBA Draft on Thursday evening. The four year starter for the Hoosiers was the 57th overall selection in the draft. Jackson-Davis celebrated the draft with friends and family at an event in downtown Indianapolis on Thursday evening.
