Both Andrew Slater and the unknown individual operating the Twitter account “Trilly Donovan” have proven to be very accurate when it comes to college basketball recruiting intel. Each of Slater and Donovan hinted on Monday afternoon that class of 2024 5-star forward Liam McNeeley may not take a visit to Texas scheduled for Sept. 22. Slater is particularly noteworthy because of his connections across the college basketball landscape. The Texas cancellation by McNeeley was subsequently reported by multiple outlets. The home state Longhorns were once thought to be the leaders for the Richardson, Texas product. McNeeley’s only recent visits have…

Mike Woodson and all three of his assistant coaches were down in Florida today to visit key recruiting pipeline Montverde Academy. That’s according to a post by Adam Zagoria on his Twitter page. The visit comes at the start of week two of an NCAA recruiting period when college basketball staffs can make in person visits with prospects. Indiana had three players from Montverde in Bloomington for official visits just over a week ago. 5-star forward Liam McNeeley, 5-star big man Derik Queen, and 4-star guard Curtis Givens all came to IU over the same weekend, Sept. 8-10. All three…
After returning just two starters from a year ago, Indiana’s defense is giving up just 14.7 points per game through the first quarter of the season, including just 22 a game to the national top-tier offenses of Louisville and Ohio State. Sure there have been hiccups along the way, but in the aggregate it has been an impressive transition under the direction of head coach Tom Allen and his co-defensive coordinators Matt Guerrieri and Chad Wilt. But still, Indiana is 0-2 in games against those FBS opponents. And you can go on and on with the things that seem better…
Don’t expect any quick decisions from Derik Queen following his visit to Indiana a week ago. The Baltimore, Md. and Montverde Academy (Montverde, Fla.) product has at least three more official visits planned according to a Sunday report by the Maryland 247Sports site. According to that site, Queen will visit LSU this weekend, Houston Oct. 6-8, and Maryland October 20-22. He visited Kansas Sept. 1-3. Fellow Baltimore/Team Thrill AAU product Jarace Walker went through Kelvin Sampson’s Houston program and became an NBA Draft lottery pick. That appears to have helped put the Cougars in contention. IU and Maryland have long…
Neither Indiana nor Louisville have formally announced the cancellation of the 2024 and 2025 home-and-home contests the schools agreed to back in 2015. But it has been widely reported that such cancellations will occur, and IU coach Tom Allen all but confirmed it on Saturday at Lucas Oil Stadium. The push to cancel was led by Indiana, and Allen cites the recent dramatic changes in the Big Ten Conference as the reason why. “In the last six months, the Big Ten has changed a lot. We’ve added four teams to this conference, that has changed the landscape of the Big…
