Preseason and even pregame depth charts aren’t always good indicators of who will see the field on gameday. Staffs don’t always want to tell the world who will play, and sometimes the gameplan plays a role each week. There’s been a lot of buzz surrounding IU’s chances to land 5-star forward Liam McNeeley in the last couple days. The Hoosiers are gunning for a top-10 recruiting class in the 2024 high school ranks, and McNeeley would certainly be a very good start for Mike Woodson and crew. With the dust settled on rosters for the 2023-24 season, we’re going team-by-team in the Big Ten to assess where everyone stands and how things could shake out this year. Hoosier fans might have a soft spot for her, but Aaliyah Guyton won’t be adored in Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall like her father. She’ll be suiting up for the enemy. Ranked the No. 57 player in ESPN’s 2024 rankings, the daughter of former IU men’s basketball great A.J. Guyton is headed to Iowa. The 5-foot-7 guard scored 21.6 points as a junior at Peoria High.  She added 4.6 rebounds and 3.8 assists while leading her team to a third place finish in Class 3A. Gucci Mane is a global star, but for some in the IU program he’s a fellow Georgia product. Indiana announced last week the rap artist is performing at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall on Oct. 20 as part of Hoosier Hysteria. Under the direction of head coach Mike Woodson, IU has been able to pull in a well known musician for the event for a second straight year.  Mane follows G Herbo, who performed at last year’s Hoosier Hysteria. Indiana has offered a fourth in-state player in the 2025 class. Lawrence North H.S. guard Azavier Robinson announced an offer from the Hoosiers while in Bloomington for an unofficial visit. The 6-foot-1 Robinson is expected to be one of the top players in the state of Indiana as a junior this season.  He averaged 20.3 points, 7.6 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 2.6 steals in 2022-23.
