Indiana continues to add to its 2026 recruiting class with a Monday evening addition of Pennsylvania-based cornerback Lawrence “Jay” Timmons.  He made the call after a weekend visit in Bloomington. Timmons is the No. 44 overall corner in the 2026 class according to the On3 industry average.  The 5-foot-11 and 175-pound Timmons could end up playing safety in college. He’s a 3-star and the No. 477 player overall in the class.  He chose IU over Pittsburgh, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Wisconsin, Iowa, Iowa State, Syracuse and others. While Indiana has 10, maybe 11 players on its 2025-26 roster, what they don’t have to this point is elite length. Indiana will be hosting North Florida transfer forward Josh Harris next week. The Daily Hoosier has learned Harris will visit Indiana beginning on Monday. He was a teammate of incoming IU guard Jasai Miles in 2024-25. The 6-foot-8 and 220-pound Harris earned a spot on the Atlantic Sun Conference’s All-Freshman Team after averaging 13.4 points and 7.1 rebounds in 22.6 minutes over 30 games (all starts) during the Ospreys’ 2024-25 season.  He added 21 steals, 17 assists and 15 blocks. Indiana earned a verbal commitment from Union, Ky. class of 2026 linebacker Jacob Savage on Friday afternoon. Savage announced his pledge to Curt Cignetti and staff at his school — Ryle H.S. The 6-foot-1, 225-pound Savage took multiple visits to IU over the last few months.  He chose Indiana over fellow finalists Purdue, Louisville, Georgia Tech, Northwestern, Michigan State and Minnesota. UConn assembled an elite high school class of 2025 replete with former IU basketball recruiting targets. Their haul includes five-star in-state guard Braylon Mullins and top-25 center Eric Reibe, who both visited Bloomington last fall.  But it no longer includes former IU target Darius Adams, who obtained his release from Dan Hurley and the Huskies and is back on the market. Hicks is a 3-star, the No. 411 overall player in the class of 2026, the No. 38 cornerback, and the No. 1 player in the state based on the On3 industry average. Florida transfer forward Sam Alexis has committed to IU basketball, Joe Tipton of On3 announced on Thursday evening. The 6-foot-8 and 240-pound Alexis averaged 4.7 points and 3.5 rebounds per game for the national champion Gators.  He played 11.9 minutes per game, shot 46.5% from the field overall, made 4-of-20 from three, and 53.8% at the stripe. Alexis played in 24 games with zero starts.  He suffered a foot injury on Feb. 11 and  would appear in just one other game – against Maryland in the NCAA Tournament – logging just one minute of playing time. Elon transfer wing Nick Dorn has committed to Indiana according to reports. Dorn visited IU this week.  He also visited North Carolina, Maryland, and possibly others. The 6-foot-7, 200-pound Charlotte, N.C. product averaged 15.2 points, 3.8 rebounds and .8 assists for the Phoenix in 2024-25. He shot 37.4% from the field overall and made a team-high 74 three-pointers (on 35.1% shooting). Dorn shot 80.5% at the free throw line.
