After Jalen Hood-Schifino’s impressive one-and-done season running the show at Indiana, it feels like an anomaly the Hoosiers would be unable to land a point guard in the 2024 class. After all, Hood-Schifino’s success at IU was a hot topic on the recruiting trail all spring and summer. Enter 2024 point guard Daquan Davis into the conversation. Davis decommitted from Providence on Sunday, and On3’s Joe Tipton named only Indiana as a team to watch. Indiana could be a team to watch here. Hoosiers recently missed on 5⭐️ Boogie Fland (Kentucky). Davis is now one of the top available PGs.…

Former Indiana basketball player Jamarcus Ellis has passed away at the age of 38. The Chicago Sun Times is reporting Ellis died early Friday in a car accident. According to the report, Ellis is survived by three sons. He was no stranger to tragedy. His father was killed when he was 6 and his mother died of lung failure when he was 14. In his lone season at IU, the ill-fated 2007-08 campaign, Ellis averaged 6.8 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.4 assists in 30.6 minutes per contest. He was dismissed from the team following that season that saw coach Kelvin…
Class of 2024 big man Derik Queen told On3’s Joe Tipton on Friday he’s down to Houston, Indiana, Kansas, and Maryland. Tipton’s report is consistent with most reporting when it comes to the timing for a decision by the 6-foot-9 Queen — it’s likely to come before the early signing period (Nov. 8-15). Most believe his recruitment might even be more narrow, with Indiana and Maryland battling it out. Queen’s high school coach told a reporter that earlier this week. Queen is a 5-star recruit according to multiple outlets. He’s the No. 15 overall player in the 2024 class according…
IU basketball coach Mike Woodson was asked on Friday how the program is handling the arrest of his star freshman Mackenzie Mgbako that occurred last weekend. He was straightforward and matter-of-fact in his response. Punishment by Indiana, if there was any, has already occurred. The 6-foot-8 Mgbako will play on Sunday when the Hoosiers face the University of Indianapolis in an exhibition game. “He will be playing, he’s been practicing, and all that’s behind us,” Woodson said via Zoom. “We’ve got to move forward.” Mgbako was formally charged Thursday with a misdemeanor for trespassing in connection with an incident at…
Indiana has offered consensus national top-20 class of 2025 prospect Joson Sanon. Sanon announced the offer on his Twitter page on Thursday. According to the On3 Industry Average, Sanon is the No. 12 overall player in the 2025 class and the No. 5 shooting guard. The 6-foot-5 shooting guard is from Fall River, Mass. and attends Vermont Academy. He plays for Expressions Elite on the Nike EYBL Circuit and averaged 15.2 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.4 assists, in 26 minutes per game at the 17u level at the 2023 Peach Jam. This is not new involvement by Indiana. The Hoosiers have…
According to public court records, the Monroe County prosecutor’s office has formally charged IU basketball’s Mackenzie Mgbako with one count of criminal trespass on Thursday. The Class A misdemeanor is typically punishable via fines. The freshman forward from New Jersey was arrested early Sunday morning at a Bloomington Taco Bell. Mgbako was also initially charged with resisting law enforcement, but that charge does not appear in the public record. Mgbako has entered a not guilty plea, and the cause is set for a pretrial conference on Dec. 4. For complete coverage of IU basketball, GO HERE. The Daily Hoosier –“Where Indiana fans…
Losing Xavier Johnson didn’t completely sink Indiana’s season a year ago. Although their starting point guard went down for the year with a broken foot in December, the Hoosiers still finished tied for second in the Big Ten and earned a No. 4 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Trayce Jackson-Davis’ rise to consensus first team All-American caliber play, and Jalen Hood-Schifino’s ability to step in and run the show helped to ensure IU survived the loss of Johnson, who had carried the team at times a year before. But the Hoosiers still fell short of preseason expectations, and there was…
