After a 5-0 start, IU football is ranked again for the first time since early in the 2021 season. The Top 25 Coaches Poll released on Sunday afternoon has the Hoosiers slotted in as the No. 24 in the country. Indiana was last ranked by the coaches and in the AP poll in the 2021 preseason. Joining IU in the Coaches Poll from the Big Ten are Ohio State (3), Oregon (6), Penn State (7), Michigan (10), USC (15) and Illinois (25). In the AP Top-25 released an hour later, the Hoosiers were ranked No. 23. All of the same…

Curt Cignetti seems to like communicating with the IU student body. And so do his players, who ran over to the opposite side of the field after Indiana’s 42-28 win Saturday to thank the student section in person. That gesture came after the students made a strong showing at the game despite poor weather conditions. Cignetti chose a more classical form of communication, writing a second letter in as many days to the entire student body, via e-mail. Here’s what Cignetti said to IU students just hours after leading his team to a 5-0 start: “On behalf of the entire…
IU football returned to Rose Bowl Stadium for the first time in 57 years two weeks ago. So it was only fitting on Saturday against Maryland they followed the script of that 1967 season with their first 5-0 start since. “5-0, that’s nice. 57 years is a long time man,” IU coach Curt Cignetti said after Indiana’s win over the Terps at Memorial Stadium Saturday. In 140 seasons of football, Indiana has only reached five wins for the entire season 46 times, and it is just the third time ever they’ve started a season 5-0. The only 5-0 season other…

Indiana reported good news on Saturday, as tight end James Bomba was not on the team’s availability report heading into their week five matchup against Maryland. The 6-foot-6 Bomba was injured in week two against Western Illinois. Bomba provides experience and depth at the tight end spot. He has one catch on the season. The Hoosiers are a fairly healthy team, with only reserve defensive lineman Ta’Derious Collins on the report among offensive or defensive players. IU does have a potentially tricky situation on special teams, as their top two kickoff kickers are out. Both Derek McCormick and Alejandro Quintero…

Class of 2025 top-25 guard Braylon Mullins completed his IU official visit last weekend. Since then he’s cut his list of finalists to Indiana, Connecticut and North Carolina. Mullins, who is done with visits, is headed to the Coach Wooten Top 150 Camp this weekend in Las Vegas. That should be his last bit of traveling before the family hunkers down to make a decision. The Daily Hoosier caught up with Mullins’ father Josh on Friday to get the latest on his son’s recruitment. Here’s our conversation with Josh Mullins: TDH: Tell me big picture how the IU official visit…
Curt Cignetti wants a raucous crowd Saturday when Indiana (4-0) hosts Maryland (3-1) at Noon ET (BTN). The first-year head coach, who just led IU to a win over UCLA at Rose Bowl Stadium, is trying to deliver the program’s first 5-0 start since the 1967 Rose Bowl season. Cignetti and some of the players expressed frustration when the fans left early during the season opening win over Florida International. And there hasn’t been much reason to stay at any game thus far as the Hoosiers have been dominant in three home games, winning by a combined score of 160-24.…
Practice has officially started in Bloomington, as IU basketball is just six weeks away from the highly anticipated 2024-25 season. The program updated the team’s official roster at iuhoosiers.com this week, and as is the case each year, several players are being reported at new weights. And this year we even have a returning player who has grown an inch, along with a freshman being reported taller than he was in high school. Here’s an overview of the changes.
