Indiana is still in the mix for one of the most coveted guards in the high school junior class. Class of 2025 5-star guard Darryn Peterson is down to eight schools. Going forward, Peterson will consider Arkansas, Baylor, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, North Carolina, and Ohio State, On3’s Joe Tipton reported on Monday. The 6-foot-5 Peterson is an elite prospect — a consensus 5-star, consensus national top-5 prospect, and the consensus No. 1 shooting guard in the 2025 class. On the final day of 2023, we take a look back at the year that was in IU Athletics. These are our top stories involving the current IU teams, players and coaches for the 2023 calendar year. 10. For the first time in his professional career, OG Anunoby has a new home. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting the Toronto Raptors are finalizing a trade to send Anunoby to the New York Knicks for a package including RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley and draft considerations. Anunoby is averaging 15.1 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.0 steals per game this season.  It’s his fourth straight season averaging 15 or more points. No sooner than Indiana appeared to be in some trouble, they put Kennesaw State away.  And the shorthanded Hoosiers did it with the help of some unlikely suspects off the bench. The Hoosiers started hot and ran out to a 13-point first half lead — the same margin they’d end up winning by.  But in between was 44-27 Kennesaw State run that had the home crowd nervous.  Indiana immediately responded, however, and closed the game with a 36-19 run over their own. BLOOMINGTON — Indiana defeated Kennesaw State by a final score of 100-87 at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall on Friday evening. The Hoosiers led 50-46 at halftime and were led in the game by Malik Reneau with 34 points.  The Hoosiers put a total of six players in double figures on the night. Indiana has listed sophomore center Kel’el Ware as out tonight’s game against Kennesaw State on the Big Ten availability report. Sources tell The Daily Hoosier Ware has an illness. Ware is averaging 14.9 points and 8.9 rebounds per game while shooting 55 percent from the field. Sixth-year point guard Xavier Johnson is listed as questionable but is not expected to play on Friday. IU also listed walk-on Jordan Rayford as out for the season. The wait for the return of Xavier Johnson will continue into 2024. The sixth-year guard is not expected to play on Friday evening when the Hoosiers host Kennesaw State at 6 p.m. ET (BTN Plus). Indiana will have a trio of recruiting guests on Friday evening, according to multiple reports. Class of 2024 signee Liam McNeeley headlines the list of visitors.  This will be his first visit to Indiana for a game.  He took official visits to Bloomington in September of 2023 and 2o22.  McNeeley has made 15-of-27 threes so far in leagues games for Montverde. December 28, 1988 — On a frigid day in Memphis, Tenn., Indiana came out red hot at the 1988 Liberty Bowl. The Hoosiers took a 17-0 lead into halftime over South Carolina, and they had outgained the Gamecocks 301 yards to 53 at the break. But things would get interesting on the 22 degree evening in late December. Josh Sales is the latest Indiana player to jump ship and head to West Lafayette. After three seasons in Bloomington, the offensive lineman announced Thursday he’s transferring to Purdue. The 6-foot-5 and 305 pound Sales heads to the Boilermakers with two years of eligibility remaining. A product of Brownsburg (Ind.)
