A couple weeks into January, Indiana still only has one commit in its 2024 class. Could that be changing soon? 2024 forward/center Derik Queen should be announcing in less than three weeks.  ESPN’s Paul Biancardi is reporting Queen is targeting an announcement around Feb. 1.  We continue to believe Indiana is in as good of a position as anyone, with Maryland, Houston and Kansas still involved to varying degrees. Queen and his Montverde Academy teammate, IU signee Liam McNeeley, will play on ESPN2 this weekend.  Montverde plays Prolific Prep at 7:30 p.m. ET Sunday. Indiana is also still looking for…

Following a loss at Rutgers Tuesday evening, Indiana coach Mike Woodson did not like being pressed on the substitution patterns he utilizes. Why does he elect to have four or five of the starters sitting on the bench at the same time? “I’m not going to sit here and answer that question when it comes to the fans or you,” Woodson said.  “I elected to go to my bench, which I’ve done this season, and I’ve gotten some good results here and there.” While Woodson certainly is under no obligation to explain or justify his lineups to the fans or…

Let’s take a deeper look at how IU lost 66-57 with another edition of The…

Indiana ran Rutgers off its home court in February of 2018 to earn their sixth straight win over the Scarlet Knights. But the RAC has been a nightmare since for the Hoosiers.  Jersey Mike’s Arena, as it’s formally known, has the smallest capacity in the Big Ten, but has been a massive headache for Indiana. No one on Indiana’s current roster has won in the building.  Trayce Jackson-Davis never won there either. Rutgers has rattled off four straight home wins over IU, and none of those games have been particularly close. The recent story for Hoosiers in Piscataway, N.J. has…

When Tennessee’s new coaching staff pulled Michael Penix, Jr.’s offer in late 2017, he had a decision to make. Ironically, a key figure central to Penix choosing Indiana at that time played quarterback at Michigan and is now an assistant coach at Washington — the two teams competing in Monday night’s national championship game. When he was on the staff in Knoxville, Nick Sheridan helped influence Penix’s commitment to the Vols.  But Sheridan followed Mike DeBord to Indiana in 2017, and stayed in touch with Penix.  When Penix landed back on the market, Sheridan’s long-term belief in the big-armed lefty…

For three years Michael Penix, Jr. and Jack Tuttle competed for the starting quarterback job at Indiana. On Monday evening, they’ll be on opposing sidelines for the college football national championship game. “It’s crazy. That’s just how things work sometimes. Tuttle, he was always a great person, great player to me, and we’ve had mutual respect throughout the years. We still were keeping in contact, wishing each other luck all the time.…
