Indiana’s top-ranked portal haul won’t include Connor Essegian or Ryan Conwell. Essegian announced on Sunday he’ll stay in the Big Ten, as the Indiana native is transferring from Wisconsin to Nebraska.  Essegian took a visit to Indiana last week and Nebraska was his next stop. Meanwhile another Indiana native, Conwell announced on Friday he’s headed from Indiana State to Xavier.  Although he was highly coveted, the Hoosiers did not appear to gain serious traction with Conwell.  That might have been influenced at least in part by guard commitments that were secured early. So far Indiana gained transfer portal commitments from…

If there was one thing that clearly broke Indiana’s 2023-24 season, it was faulty roster construction. For whatever the reasons, Mike Woodson and his staff failed to land big-time guard talent in the transfer portal last spring, and that mishap, along with the injuries suffered by Xavier Johnson, haunted them throughout the year on both ends of the floor. It seems clear lessons were learned. The Hoosiers wasted no time, even skipping the NIT, to jump in the transfer portal with two feet. With significant financial tailwinds in the name, image and likeness era, Indiana has attacked the offseason with…

Kentucky transfer wing Adou Thiero named Indiana to his final five schools on Friday, according to a report by Jeff Borzello of ESPN. Indiana joins Pittsburgh, Arkansas, Kentucky and North Carolina as Thiero’s finalists. The odds seem to be a bit stacked against the Hoosiers, with hometown Pitt involved, along with a possible return to Kentucky or the potential to follow John Calipari to Arkansas.  Thiero did enter the transfer portal more than a week before Calipari left Kentucky for Arkansas, and IU was in contact right away. The 6-foot-8 Thiero is regarded as a high-motor wing.  He played in…
