Wins on the road in Big Ten play have seldom been seen this year and Indiana will have to wait until Saturday for another chance to capture their second road win of the season after falling 64-49 to No. 24 ranked Penn State on Wednesday night. Coming into today, the Hoosiers had been steadily improving offensively, but that trend changed dramatically at the Bryce Jordan Center in University Park. In their last three games, IU put up their second, third, and fourth most points in a conference game this season. IU had scored 82, 67, and 76 points over their…

Indiana let one slip away on Sunday afternoon in Bloomington. With 2:37 remaining at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall, IU took a 74-67 lead over the visiting Maryland Terrapins after a Jerome Hunter free-throw.  The Hoosiers appeared to be on their way to a sixth straight win over a ranked opponent at home. But it wasn’t to be. The Terrapins proceeded to end the game on a 10-2 run to stun the home crowd and capture a 77-76 road victory. “I think the last 3:32 of the game, the last media segment as we came out, that’s when you’ve got to…

Indiana forced itself into the national conversation on Thursday night with a significant win against No. 9 Michigan State. In a tightly contested game that came down to the wire, the Hoosiers showed the toughness that has at times been in question this season. The big plays late came from two of the upperclassmen on the team that IU head coach Archie Miller is counting on to produce in key moments. With the game knotted at 60 with a little over two minutes remaining, junior guard Al Durham hit a shot from distance to put Indiana up by three. “I…

After scoring only 50 points in their last outing against Rutgers, head coach Archie Miller knew the team would have to start knocking down shots in order to win, especially on the road. Seemingly exhausting all of his options and still finding no answers in Piscataway earlier in the week, the biggest question was who would eventually step up for the Hoosiers and score baskets from the perimeter. Although the answer would not come until roughly midway through the first half, Indiana was able to find an offensive rhythm that they have so desperately been searching for in a big…

Indiana head coach Archie Miller sent senior guard Devonte Green to the bench and started sophomore point guard Rob Phinisee in his place on Saturday. Both players would end up making their head coach look good as Miller picked up his first win as the IU head coach over Ohio State. After an uncomfortably close win over Northwestern on Wednesday night, a clearly frustrated Miller said that “we’re just searching for ourselves again” as his team seemed to lack focus and a commitment to the gameplan. An apparent part of Miller’s solution was to send Green to the bench.  But…

Coming off of a disappointing road loss to Maryland on Saturday and losers of two straight, returning home against a struggling Northwestern team seemed to be just what Indiana needed to get back on track. In the end, the Hoosiers got all of the Wildcats that they wanted. It was nearly too much. Indiana overcame a 10 point second half deficit with a rally over the game’s last 12 minutes to secure a 66-62 win over the Wildcats at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall in Bloomington.  A 26-12 run to close out the game gave IU a much needed win over…

Playing in their first game in over a week, Indiana had some eerily similar moments to their win over Notre Dame last Saturday. But this time there was no miraculous finish as the Hoosiers closed out 2019 with a 71-64 loss to Arkansas in their final nonconference game of the season. After a back-and-forth opening half against the Razorbacks, Indiana seemed to have found their rhythm early in the second period.  IU went up by as many as 11 points at 50-39 with just over 16 minutes remaining.  The Hoosiers looked like they might cruise to victory and remain undefeated…

After falling behind early against Wisconsin on Saturday, Indiana got knocked out. Playing at Madison Square Garden against UConn in the Jimmy V Classic, the Hoosiers fought back when the going got tough. After a late night in New York, the Hoosiers can return home happy after a hard-fought victory against a quality opponent.  After falling behind 26-16 in the first half, Tuesday night’s game had that here we go again feeling.  Instead, aided by the return of sophomore point guard Rob Phinisee, IU went on an 18-3 run and took a 34-29 lead into the break.  “I can’t say…

Indiana had not ventured away from Bloomington during its 8-0 start to the 2019-20 season. After a long afternoon in Madison, the Hoosiers can’t get back home fast enough. Indiana guard Al Durham made a pair of free throws to give IU a quick 2-0 lead to open the game.  That would be the only lead the Hoosiers held at the Kohl Center, a place that Indiana has not won since 1998 as they lost their 17th straight contest on Wisconsin’s home court.  Moments later Wisconsin went on a 14-0 run — and the Badgers never looked back.  The Wisconsin…

Florida State jumped out to an early 11-4 lead on Tuesday night against Indiana. But the Hoosiers had a secret weapon on the bench. Devonte Green scored 30 points, collected 6 rebounds, and dished out 3 assists to lead IU to an 80-64 win in Bloomington in connection with the 2019 Big Ten / ACC Challenge.. The 6-foot-3 senior guard reached his career high scoring total in just 28 minutes of action as he continues to play in a reserve role for the Hoosiers. “Obviously, Devonte Green was special tonight,” Indiana head coach Archie Miller said after the game.  “There…
