A look at where the IU basketball class of 2021 recruiting targets landed in latest 247Sports rankings

Updating rankings is a challenge with no live basketball, but recruiting service 247Sports took a shot anyway with its latest look at the class of 2021.

In the absence of live evaluations, 247 leveraged high school film more than ever to arrive at their latest update, which they believe better reflects the current rankings.

Here is where the primary Indiana targets in the class of 2021 stand after the update.

    16. Aminu Mohammed – The Missouri based guard moved up three spots overall.  A four-star at 247, Mohammed is No. 11 in the 247 Composite, and No. 13 at Rivals.  In each of those latter rankings Mohammed is a five-star.  IU is one of a handful of teams on the top tier of Mohammed’s recruitment.

    32. Jordan Longino – The Philadelphia area guard moved up 11 spots.  Longino is No. 49 in the 247Sports Composite and No. 41 at Rivals.  IU likely has ground to make up here but Longino indicated that he would like to visit.

    40. Trey Kaufman – A high priority in-state target, Kaufman held firm at No. 40.  He is No. 67 in the 247Sports Composite and No. 83 at Rivals.  IU is in a solid position in Kaufman’s recruitment.

    52. Mason Miller – The Memphis product dropped three spots.  Miller is No. 57 in the 247Sports Composite and No. 65 at Rivals.  Indiana is one of a handful of schools on the top tier for Miller, although IU would seemingly be unlikely to land both him and Kaufman.

    78. Logan Duncomb – Of course Duncomb is the lone IU class of 2021 commit on this list and he remained at No. 78.  A four-star at 247, Duncomb is No. 101 in the 247Sports Composite and No. 141 and a three-star at Rivals.

    100. Blake Wesley – The South Bend product dropped seven spots here.  Wesley is No. 88 in the 247Sports Composite and No. 97 at Rivals.  He updated his recruitment over the weekend.

    140. John Camden – The Philadelphia area wing dropped eight spots here.  He is No. 102 in the 247Sports Composite and No. 84 at Rivals.  Indiana offered Camden in May.

    OTHER NAMES OF NOTE

    12. Max Christie – Indiana offered the 5-star Christie but has never seemed to gain any traction.

    37.  Franck Kepnang – It wasn’t clear that IU was ever going to get anywhere with the big man, but the commitment from Duncomb seems to have completely taken IU out of the picture.

    45. Jeremy Sochan – IU has been mentioned in connection with the La Lumiere (Laporte, Ind.) prospect but there has been no meaningful activity to this point.

    53. Trey Patterson – Committed to Villanova last week.

    81. Carter Whitt – IU offered, and Whitt visited, but the commitment by Khristian Lander made the Hoosiers a less attractive destination for the point guard.

    87.  Louis Lesmond – Committed to Harvard.

    118.  Kuluel Mading – IU has shown interest in Mading, a forward who has entered the rankings for the first time.

    139.  Brooks Barnhizer – The in-state product had some limited IU interest and committed to Northwestern.

    150.  Luke Goode – Another in-state product that IU showed interest.  Committed to Illinois.
