2025 guard Kiyan Anthony planning to visit IU basketball

The son of one of Mike Woodson’s former star players in the NBA is planning to visit Indiana.

According to Adam Zagoria, class of 2025 guard Kiyan Anthony intends to visit multiple schools, including IU.

The son of NBA great Carmelo Anthony, Kiyan also wants to visit Florida State, Syracuse, and Michigan.

    No dates are set.

The 6-foot-4 Anthony attends Long Island Lutheran H.S. in New York. He’s a 4-star prospect in the class of 2025, and the No. 39 overall player in the class according to the On3 Industry Average.

Kiyan plays for Team Melo (named after his father) on the Nike EYBL circuit.  In 16 games he averaged 15.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per contest.  He made 17-of-33 from three over his last five games.

    Indiana offered Kiyan in May.

When IU coach Mike Woodson was the head coach of the New York Knicks he coached Carmelo for three years.

“I think the world of Carmelo,” Woodson said in a 2019 interview.  “We spent three years together and I was able to coach him and push him and I thought he responded in a big way.”

The good feeling run both ways.

“For me as a player, I had some of my best years under Mike Woodson.  So I would never have anything bad to say about Mike Woodson,” Carmelo said in 2014.

Current IU forward Mackenzie Mgbako consulted Carmelo regarding Woodson when he was considering Indiana during his recruitment.  Former IU star Trayce Jackson-Davis did the same when IU hired Woodson.
