IU football coach Curt Cignetti has said repeatedly his team’s success over the last two years has opened previously locked recruiting doors.
No weekend illustrates the point better than this one.
There’s probably never been more high school talent in Bloomington than right now.
Highlighting the weekend is a trio of 5-stars.
As reported earlier in the week, the No. 1 overall player in the class, 5-star defensive tackle Jalen Brewster is on campus. Brewster is a verbal Texas Tech commit but is clearly giving IU a careful look.
Also on the IU campus is Texas-based running back Landen Williams-Callis. He’s a 5-star at 247Sports, and the No. 3 overall running back in the class. Indiana is in a very crowded national recruitment for Williams-Callis that includes Oregon, Texas, Texas A&M and LSU.
And the No. 1 wide receiver in the 2027 class, in-state 5-star Monshun Sales is in Bloomington this weekend as well. The Lawrence North H.S. junior is the No. 7 overall player in the class. IU is trying to keep him in-state and battling Alabama, Ohio State, Miami and Texas.
A commitment from any of three would be the highest-rated recruit in program history. IU has never landed a 5-star in the ratings era.
Hare are all of the players who have been reported to be visiting this weekend. Obviously things are very fluid in recruiting, so there could have been late changes to the list.
