Sign of the times: IU football has three 5-star recruiting targets on campus this weekend

IU football coach Curt Cignetti has said repeatedly his team’s success over the last two years has opened previously locked recruiting doors.

No weekend illustrates the point better than this one.

There’s probably never been more high school talent in Bloomington than right now.

Highlighting the weekend is a trio of 5-stars.

As reported earlier in the week, the No. 1 overall player in the class, 5-star defensive tackle Jalen Brewster is on campus.  Brewster is a verbal Texas Tech commit but is clearly giving IU a careful look.

Also on the IU campus is Texas-based running back Landen Williams-Callis.  He’s a 5-star at 247Sports, and the No. 3 overall running back in the class.  Indiana is in a very crowded national recruitment for Williams-Callis that includes Oregon, Texas, Texas A&M and LSU.

And the No. 1 wide receiver in the 2027 class, in-state 5-star Monshun Sales is in Bloomington this weekend as well.  The Lawrence North H.S. junior is the No. 7 overall player in the class.  IU is trying to keep him in-state and battling Alabama, Ohio State, Miami and Texas.

A commitment from any of three would be the highest-rated recruit in program history.  IU has never landed a 5-star in the ratings era.

Hare are all of the players who have been reported to be visiting this weekend.  Obviously things are very fluid in recruiting, so there could have been late changes to the list.

    • Jameson Purcell, 3-star QB, Park Ridge, Ill. — Visiting April 24-26, he says.  Indiana commit.  No. 32 QB in the class.
    • Brady Scott, 3-star athlete, Reading, Mass. — Visiting April 24-26, he says.  No. 24 athlete in the class.
    • Mason Oglesby, 4-star TE, New Palestine, Ind. — Visiting April 24-26, he says.  Indiana in top-six schools.  Has some national predictions to end up at IU.  No. 19 TE in the class
    • Monshun Sales, 5-star WR, Indianapolis, Ind.  — Visiting April 24-26, he says.  Indiana in top-four schools.  No. 1 WR in the class.
    • Jayce Brewer, 4-star EDGE, Indianapolis, Ind. — Visiting April 24-26, per Indy Star.  Indiana top-six schools.  Has some national predictions to end up at IU.  No. 32 EDGE in the class.
    • Keysan Taylor, 4-star EDGE, Rockford, Ill. — Visiting April 24-26, per Allen Trieu/Rivals page.  No. 26 EDGE in the class.
    • Kenaz Sullivan, 4-star Safety, Springfield, Va. — Visiting April 24-26 his 247Sports profile page says.  No. 22 safety in the 2027 class.
    • Raheem Floyd, 4-star CB, East St. Louis, Ill. — Visiting April 24-26, he says.  Has some national predictions to end up at IU.  No. 20 CB in the class.
    • Monsanna Torbert, 4-star CB, Cincinnati, Ohio — Visit moved to April 24-26 per 247Sports’ Tom Loy.  Indiana commit.  No. 22 CB in the class.
    • Landen Williams-Callis, 5-star RB, Richmond, Texas — Visiting April 24-26 his 247Sports profile page says.  No. 3 RB in the 2027 class.
    • Jalen Brewster, 5-star DT, Cedar Hill, Texas — Visiting April 24-26, per Rivals.  He’s the No. 1 ranked prospect in the 2027 class overall and a Texas Tech verbal commit.
