Seven IU football players on the offensive side of the ball were named All-Big Ten on Thursday.
That brings Indiana to a total of 16 starters who received some level of All-Big Ten recognition in the past two days. Nine Hoosier defensive players were named All-Big Ten yesterday, along with three more on special teams. IU coach Curt Cignetti was also named the Big Ten’s Coach of the Year yesterday.
Quarterback Fernando Mendoza was named the first team All-Big Ten quarterback. Mendoza was also named the league’s Graham-George Offensive Player of the Year and the Greise-Brees Quarterback of the Year.
Left tackle Carter Smith was also named to the first team. Smith was also named the league’s Rimington-Pace Offensive Lineman of the Year.
Tight end Riley Nowakowski, wide receivers Elijah Sarratt and Omar Cooper, Jr. and center Pat Coogan were all named to the second team.
Running back Roman Hemby was named to the third team.
