Former IU baseball great and MLB star Kyle Schwarber will be the celebrity guest picker for ESPN’s College Football Gameday on Saturday in Bloomington.

Each week Gameday chooses a celebrity connected to the host school or state to make a prediction for that weekend’s contest.

ESPN announced the news Thursday afternoon on their social media accounts and released a video of Schwarber:

    — College GameDay (@CollegeGameDay) October 24, 2024

Schwarber just completed his 10th season in Major League Baseball.  With 284, he has the most career home runs of any former IU player, passing Ted Kluszewski earlier this year.  Schwarber has hit 38 or more home runs in each of his last three seasons.

Selected in the first round of the 2014 MLB Draft (fourth overall) by the Chicago Cubs, Schwarber is the highest draft pick in Indiana baseball history.

He was a two-time First Team All-American and Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American honoree.

In IU history, he ranks fifth in slugging percentage (.607), sixth in home runs (40), eighth in hits (238) and tied for eighth in triples (12) and runs (182) despite playing just three seasons.

For his career Schwarber batted .341 in 180 games played, and he helped lead IU to the 2013 College World Series.

Schwarber will join former IU football head coach Lee Corso on the ESPN panel of pickers.

Gameday airs from 9 a.m. to Noon ET Saturday, with the game predictions coming towards the end of the broadcast.

No. 13 Indiana (7-0) and Washington kick at Noon ET (BTN) at Memorial Stadium.
