Indiana basketball has published updates to their official roster on iuhoosiers.com.

The main update to the roster is the addition of the four class of 2022 freshmen.

The new release provides the first look at the jersey numbers for the freshmen along with their heights and weights.

We also took a look for updates to the heights and weights of the returning players, and the addition of any new walk-ons.

    DETAILS ON THE FRESHMEN

Jalen Hood-Schifino will wear No. 1.   The Pittsburgh/Charlotte product is listed at 6-foot-6 and 215 pounds, making him one of, if not the tallest ever IU point guard.  Rob Phinisee wore No. 1 last season.

Hood-Schifino is the highest-rated incoming freshman in the Big Ten.

Malik Reneau will wear No. 5, meaning walk-on Michael Shipp had to give that number up.  Reneau will be the first scholarship player since Troy Williams to wear No. 5.  The Miami product is listed as 6-foot-9 and 235 pounds.  Shipp will now wear No. 4, which was worn by Khristian Lander last season.

Reneau was a teammate of Hood-Schifino at Montverde Academy where they won back-to-back national championships.

Kaleb Banks will wear No. 10.  The Fayetteville, Ga. product is listed at 6-foot-7 and 200 pounds.  Phinisee was also the last player to wear No. 10.

Banks was the Georgia Class 4A Player of the Year and a 2,000-point scorer at Fayette County H.S.

C.J. Gunn will wear one of IU’s more iconic numbers — No. 11.  Hailing from Indianapolis, he is listed at 6-foot-6 and 186 pounds.  Several well-known Hoosiers have worn No. 11 including Isiah Thomas, Dane Fife and Yogi Ferrell.  Returning walk-on Shaan Burke has changed his jersey number to 13 to accommodate Gunn.

Hailing from a program Lawrence North H.S. program that produced Eric Montross, Greg Oden, Mike Conley, and many others, Gunn is the all-time leader in school history in points per game average according to his profile on the IU site.

    HEIGHT AND WEIGHT CHANGES

Here are the updates from last season’s roster:

    • Tamar Bates has dropped three pounds from 193 to 190.
    • Logan Duncomb has gained an inch and a pound.  He is now listed as 6-foot-10 and 235.
    • Trey Galloway has gained three pounds, from 200 to 203.
    • Jordan Geronimo has dropped five pounds from 225 to 220.
    • Miller Kopp has dropped five pounds from 220 to 215.
    • Anthony Leal has dropped five pounds from 205 to 202.

(Note:  IU Athletics changed a bunch of weights after this story was published)

    NEW WALK-ON

The roster lists Hogan Orbaugh as an addition to the team.  Orbaugh hails from Zionsville, Ind. along with fellow walk-on Nathan Childress, and yours truly.

A junior forward, Orbaugh served as a student assistant under Men’s Basketball Director of Athletic Performance Clif Marshall last year.

Orbaugh was previously a walk-on at Louisville where he played in seven career games as a walk-on for the Cardinals and scored three points and added one rebound.  He is listed at the exact same height and weight — 6-foot-8 and 235 pounds — as Race Thompson.

Sebastian Scott, a walk-on last season, is no longer on the roster.
