In an the transfer portal era, front office operations similar to what we’ve grown accustomed to in the professional ranks are becoming increasingly normal.

According to a report by Football Scoop, Indiana will make another hire along those lines.

That outlet is reporting the Hoosiers will fill their director of player personnel position with Mike Ferrara, who will arrive in Bloomington from LSU.  He served as the associate director of player personnel in Baton Rouge.

At LSU, the player personnel department maintains the recruiting board, and identifies players from across the country as potential prospects. They also oversee prospect evaluations and monitoring of prospects throughout the year.

Ferrara helped LSU sign back-to-back top-7 national classes in the 2023 and 2024 recruiting cycles, per the industry-standard 247Sports Composite.

Prior to LSU, Ferrara spent nearly five years at Texas A&M first as a player personnel assistant and then assistant director of player personnel.

He got his start in football at Tennessee in 2015 as a volunteer with the recruiting department for the Vols. He was elevated to graduate student recruiting analyst in August of 2015 and remained with Tennessee until March of 2017.

Ferrara also served an eight-month stint with the Cleveland Browns in 2017 where he broke down game film and assisted with the identifying of potential prospects.

He graduated from Tennessee in 2015 with a degree in sports studies.

IU coach Curt Cignetti previously hired Matt Wilson to take on a general manager role, as we reported here:
