National college basketball reporter Jeff Goodman is reporting Drake head coach Ben McCollum has emerged as a top candidate for the IU basketball head coaching position.
“Drake coach Ben McCollum has emerged as one of the top candidates for the Indiana opening and has really impressed Indiana AD Scott Dolson, source told The Field of 68,” Goodman said on X.
In his first season at Drake, McCollum led the program to the Missouri Valley regular season and tournament titles.
McCollum has been frequently mentioned as a strong candidate to secure the IU job by various national outlets.
Drake (30-3) is headed to the NCAA Tournament next week.
McCollum won four Division II national titles in six seasons before heading Drake ahead of the 2024-25 season.
