Fast-rising in-state safety Errol Kerns III has scheduled an IU official visit June 19-21.
The Lawrence Central H.S. (Indianapolis) product committed to Miami (Ohio) in April, but a wave of Power 4 offers this spring appears to have him reconsidering that decision.
The 6-foot and 195-pound Kerns has quickly gone from unranked to a 3-star, and his recent interest suggests he’ll continue to see major ratings bumps from all of the national outlets.
Just in the last month, Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, Texas A&M, Purdue, Illinois, Northwestern and Kentucky have all offered Kerns.
As a junior safety, Kerns posted 90 tackles (52 solo), three interceptions, five pass break-ups, three forced fumbles, and four tackles for loss.
In addition to IU, Kerns will also officially visit Michigan and Texas A&M over the next month.
Kerns also wrestles and competes in track and field. His posted personal bests of 10.78 seconds in the 100m dash and a 22-10 long jump as a junior. His speed makes him a candidate to return kicks at the next level too. He posted 573 kickoff return yards and 200 punt return yards as a junior. He reports a 4.44 40-yard dash, and his speed pops on film.
If Indiana can land Kerns, he won’t be the only player on the roster who went from a Miami (Ohio) to IU commitment. Running back Khobie Martin followed the same path.
