Indiana held at No. 2 in the eyes of voters, but their 56-6 dismantling of UCLA was more pleasing to the computer models.
For the first time ever, ESPN’s SP+ has the Hoosiers as the No. 1 overall team, ahead of No. 2 Ohio State and No. 3 Oregon.
Meanwhile, IU moved up two spots back to No. 2 in ESPN’s other computer model, FPI.
Both SP+ and FPI predict Indiana will win each of their remaining four regular season games.
FPI now gives IU a 19.9% chance to win the national championship. You read that right.
In the coaches poll released on Sunday, Indiana (8-0) remained No. 2, behind only Ohio State. The Hoosiers got no No. 1 votes, while No. 3 Texas A&M did receive two votes for the top spot.
