There will two former Hoosiers playing in the nation’s capital this fall.

According to reports the Washington Redskins have reached an agreement with former IU receiver Cody Latimer.  Mike Garafolo of NFL Media was the first to report the news.

Latimer, who spent the past two seasons with the Giants, will join former Hoosier offensive lineman Wes Martin in Washington.

The 27 year old Latimer played 15 games with 10 starts in 2019.  He made 24 catches for 300 yards, both career bests, and he added two touchdowns. Latimer saw action on 369 offensive snaps and 43 on special teams where he returned kickoffs.

The Broncos made Latimer a second-round draft choice in 2014, and he spent his first four seasons in Denver.

In six seasons, Latimer has played 66 games with 15 starts. He has 70 receptions for 935 yards and six touchdowns.

Latimer declared for the NFL Draft on Jan. 5, 2014, forgoing his senior season at Indiana.

The Ohio product became the 21st Hoosier to reach 100 catches and 1,000 yards. Latimer closed out his career tied for fourth in 100-yard games (seventh) and seventh in yardage (2,042) and receptions (135) on Indiana’s all-time lists. He made at least one catch in all 32 career games (24 starts).

For the 2013 season, Latimer’s last at IU, he was named second team All-Big Ten by the media and honorable mention by the coaches.  He received the same honors in 2012.

Latimer paced IU with 72 receptions, 1,096 yards and 91.3 yards per game in 2013 and he was named Indiana’s Anthony Thompson Most Valuable Player after the season.

Latimer and Martin were never teammates at Indiana, as the latter joined the Hoosier program in 2014.
