The magical high school basketball career of Indiana University basketball recruiting target Romeo Langford has come to an end, and along with it the 22 game winning streak of the New Albany Bulldogs.  Warren Central’s David Bell hit a runner at the buzzer over Langford to give the Warriors a 64-62 victory and a ticket to the state championship game next weekend.  Here is the game winner by Bell:

I’ve watched a lot of great Indiana high school basketball in person, and this moment definitely ranks as one of the most exciting I’ve seen. Congrats @WarriorNation_1 and @TheRealDBell_ ! See more and hear from the hero coming up on @WISH_TV at 10! pic.twitter.com/kB5OlPVcXO

New Albany, who was seeking to win its second state title in the last three years, finished the season at 25-2.  Warren Central will face Carmel for the 4A state title next Saturday at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

Bell took an inbounds pass with 4.6 seconds left on the clock and raced down the right side of the court.  He managed to get past Langford just enough to get a shot up at the buzzer for the dramatic victory.  Warren Central improved to 31-0 on the season as they overcame a ten point fourth quarter deficit to pull out the dramatic last second win.

Langford scored 35 points on the afternoon and became only the fourth player in Indiana boys high school basketball history to reach the 3,000 point mark.  He finished in fourth place on the state’s career scoring list, 132 points behind all-time leader Damon Bailey.

With his high school career now over, Langford will now turn his attention to the McDonald’s All-American game and other all-star games before he makes his college decision in mid to late April.  The final schools still competing for the 6-5 guard are Indiana, Kansas and Vanderbilt.
