You thought Lee Corso retired from making college football predictions in front of the camera?
Not so fast my friend.
The legendary former IU football coach and TV commentator might just have saved his last pick for tonight’s Old Oaken Bucket game.
In a video released by IU Athletics, Corso put on the new bison mascot headgear after he said “Go IU, beat Purdue.”

Corso’s decades-long tradition on ESPN’s College GameDay involved him putting on the mascot headgear of the team he picked would win the game of the week.
Corso was able to return to Bloomington last fall with ESPN when College Gameday came for Indiana’s game against Washington. Although the wheels were in motion, the Hoosiers had not yet introduced their mascot in 2024. When he predicted IU would beat the Huskies last October, Corso put on an IU helmet while wearing the Indiana pullover he made famous.
The Bloomington mayor proclaimed it “Coach Lee Corso Day” in his honor as friends, family members, former players and coaches returned to campus.
Corso was the head coach at Indiana for 10 seasons and led the Hoosiers to their first ever bowl win in 1979.
Now 90, Corso joined ESPN in 1987 following a 28-year coaching career at the college and professional levels – including 17 seasons as a head coach at Louisville (1969-72), Indiana (1973-82), Northern Illinois (1984) and with the USFL’s Orlando Renegades (1985).
Perhaps Corso wasn’t happy about his last appearance on ESPN?
Corso’s final appearance on Gameday came in late August at Ohio State, when he donned the Brutus the Buckeye headgear ahead of their game against Texas. Indiana and Ohio State are battling for the 2025 Big Ten crown.
