Indiana men’s and women’s basketball took home several Big Ten weekly awards Monday.

IU men’s basketball guard Lamar Wilkerson was named co-Big Ten Player of the Week, sharing the honor with Nebraska’s Pryce Sandfort. Wilkerson enjoyed a historic performance against Penn State on Tuesday, setting a program record with 10 3-pointers and setting a Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall scoring record with 44 points. The fifth-year added four rebounds, four assists, and three steals in Indiana’s 113-72 win over the Nittany Lions. He then followed it up with 15 points in IU’s 72-60 loss at Kentucky.

Wilkerson is the second player on Darian DeVries’ squad to earn player of the week honors this year. Tucker DeVries earned the distinction after the first week of the season.

Meanwhile, IU women’s basketball guard Shay Ciezki won Big Ten Player of the Week for the second time this year. She also took it home on Nov. 10, the first week of the season. Ciezki dominated in Indiana’s two wins over Louisiana-Monroe and Eastern Michigan. The senior scored 31 points on 12-for-17 shooting with five rebounds, a steal, two assists, and five turnovers in the team’s 98-54 win over ULM on Thursday. And she shot 9 for 17 for 25 points with two rebounds, two steals, two assists, and one turnover in IU’s 74-67 win over EMU on Sunday.

Wing Maya Makalusky joined Ciezki this week as Big Ten Freshman of the Week. The Fishers, Ind. native entered Teri Moren’s starting lineup for the first time against ULM and she met the moment. Makalusky shot 8 for 12 for 22 points with four rebounds, three assists, two steals, and a block against the Warhawks. She put up nine points and six rebounds against EMU.
