Philadelphia Phillies slugger Kyle Schwarber continues to produce staggering numbers in 2025.
On Thursday evening in Philadelphia, the former IU baseball star became just the 21st player in Major League Baseball history to hit four home runs in a game. He produced the feat in his first five at-bats as part of a 19-4 win over the Atlanta Braves. Schwarber also produced a Phillies record with nine runs batted in.
His latest accomplishments have Schwarber firmly in the running for National League MVP. He’s currently batting .248 with 49 home runs and 119 RBIs. The Phillies have 28 games remaining.
Schwarber has now tied Ted Kluszewski for the most home runs hit by a Hoosier in a Major League season with his career-high 49. Only Ryan Howard (58 in 2006) has hit more home runs in a single season for the Phillies.
No former Hoosier has more career MLB home runs. Schwarber now has 333 career home runs as he continues to approach the Hall of Fame conversation.
