Indiana women’s basketball is no longer undefeated.

The Hoosiers suffered their first loss of the season on Sunday, a 106-95 defeat to No. 10 Iowa State in the Coconut Hoops title game in Fort Myers, Fla.

IU (7-1) trailed by only three points at halftime, and held a one-point lead with 6:09 remaining in the third quarter. But Iowa State (9-0) stormed back in front with a 9-0 run, and then pulled away in the fourth quarter. The Cyclones stretched their lead to double digits just over a minute into the final period; Indiana got it back to a nine-point game a minute later, but that was the last time ISU’s lead fell below 10.

Indiana came up short despite some strong offensive performances. Senior Shay Ciezki scored 38 points, her most as a Hoosier and the second-most of her collegiate career. She shot 12 for 21 from the field, with a 13-for-14 mark from the foul line. Redshirt sophomore Lenée Beaumont scored 19 points on 7-of-14 shooting, with four rebounds and four assists.

Teri Moren’s group shot 51 percent from the field, 32 percent from 3-point range, and 92 percent at the free-throw line. Indiana gave away only eight turnovers, though the team dealt with foul trouble again.

Ultimately, the Hoosiers couldn’t get enough defensive stops to take advantage of a big offensive game. Iowa State (9-0) got a huge day from star center Audi Crooks, who torched IU for 47 points on 19-for-25 shooting.

Indiana returns home on Wednesday, Dec. 3 to host Western Michigan at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall at 6 p.m. ET.
