Indiana has suffered a second season-ending injury along the interior of the offensive line.
Starting guard Drew Evans is out for the rest of the 2024 campaign, the IU football program posted on its X account.
“The Indiana Football program announced on Saturday (Nov. 8) that redshirt sophomore offensive lineman Drew Evans will miss the remainder of the 2024 season due to an Achilles injury suffered during a practice this week,” Indiana stated.
The 6-foot-4 and 306-pound Evans is Indiana’s overall top-rated pass blocker according to PFF. Among the starting offensive linemen, he ranks fourth among run blockers. He has started all nine games for the Hoosiers, playing a total of 578 snaps.
The Fort Atkinson, Wisc. product was the only player on the Indiana injury report in advance of the Michigan game.
Other interior offensive linemen who have played snaps this year include Austin Leibfried, Adedamola Ajani, Jack Greer and Tyler Stephens. The Daily Hoosier will be watching pregame warmups for an indication on who will take over the starting role. We’ll post updates here and on X.
Evans transferred to Indiana from Wisconsin ahead of the 2023 season. He was a walk-on for the Badgers.
During fall camp, anticipated staring guard Nick Kidwell was lost for the season.
