After weeks of beating up on each other, IU football will enter its 2025 season opener relatively healthy.

The Hoosiers weren’t as fortunate coming out of the spring, when anticipated starter at slot receiver Tyler Morris was lost for the season.

And there were questions going into fall camp, especially surrounding 2024 starting guard Drew Evans, who had an Achilles injury last November.

But just days from the start of the 2025 campaign, second-year head coach Curt Cignetti says his squad is in a good place health-wise.

“I feel really good about the health of our team right now going into the opener,” Cignetti said Monday.  “During camp we did have some guys in and out defensively at times, and one offensive lineman missed a little time but is healthy now. So overall I’m pleased with where we’re at.”

Although he is still regaining his strength, Evans has been a full participant at practice throughout the month.

Cignetti’s comments during fall camp point to at least some of the players who dealt with injuries over in August.

All-American cornerback D’Angelo Ponds suffered a minor ankle injury during the first scrimmage but bounced back quickly.  Anticipated starting linebacker Rolijah Hardy was out briefly as well with a groin issue.

On the offensive side of the ball, running back Lee Beebe, Jr. missed the early days of fall camp, but he’s now anticipated to play Saturday in a three-man rotation that includes Roman Hemby and Kaelon Black, Cignetti says.

As has become customary in recent years, Indiana is required to report injuries to the Big Ten office in the form of an availability report a few hours before each game.

Indiana opens the 2025 season on Saturday against Old Dominion at 2:30 p.m. ET (FS1).
