A sold-out crowd is expected to fill the stands on Saturday in Cincinnati as the Bearcats seek their 29th straight win at Nippert Stadium.

Indiana will have revenge on their minds after a loss to UC a year ago wrecked a promising 2021 campaign.

The Hoosiers hit the road for the first time in 2022, and try to stay perfect along the way.

Here’s everything you need to know about IU’s fourth game of the season.

    INDIANA (3-0) at CINCINNATI (2-1)

    • Kickoff:  3:30 p.m. Eastern, Saturday
    • Location:  Nippert Stadium (37,000), Cincinnati, Ohio
    • Television: ESPN2 — Beth Mowins (pbp), Kirk Morrison (analyst), Stormy Buonantony (sideline)
    • Stream:  ESPN
    • Radio:  IU Football radio network
    • Odds:  Indiana is a 16.5-point underdog
    • Weather at kickoff:  72 degrees, mostly cloudy, wind 9 mph, 15% chance of precipitation.
    • Series:  Indiana leads 9-4-2 (Cincinnati won 38-24 in 2021)
    • The Coaches:

Tom Allen is in his sixth year as the head coach at IU.  He holds a 29-32 record.

Luke Fickell was hired as the 42nd football head coach in UC history on Dec. 10, 2016, Fickell holds a 50-16 (.754) record in his five years at the helm of Cincinnati.

Fickell won the AFCA’s National Coach the Year award in 2021 after leading UC to a 13-1 record.  He followed Allen, who won the award in 2020 after leading the Hoosiers to a 6-2 record, Outback Bowl bid and No. 12 final ranking.

    CINCINNATI RESULTS AND LEADERS

    2022 RESULTS

    Sept. 3 @ No. 19 Arkansas L, 24-31
    Sept. 10 KENNESAW STATE W, 63-10
    Sept. 17 vs. Miami [OH] W, 38-17

    2022 STATISTICAL LEADERS

    • QB Ben Bryant ranks in the nation’s Top 25 in completion % (70.1, 21st), TD passes (seven, 23rd) and pass yards (287.7, 21st). He has thrown seven TDs and just two INTs. He has tossed two 300-yard games in 2022.
    • LB Ivan Pace, Jr. leads the AAC and ranks 12th nationally in tackles (10.33 per game). His 6.5 TFLs are tied for fifth nationally.
    • WR Tyler Scott leads UC with 14 receptions for 238 yards and two TDs. WR Tre Tucker has 12 catches for 183 yards.
    • RB Charles “Chuck” McClelland ranks fourth in the AAC with 211 rushing yards and three TDs. McClelland began his career in 2018 and had two season-ending knee injuries. He has 1,001 career yards. His 6.5 career ypc is second in school history.
    • P Mason Fletcher ranks fourth nationally with a 48.0 average. He booted a 67-yarder vs. Miami – UC’s longest punt in 11 years. He was named the AAC Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday and added to the Ray Guy Watch List on Sunday.

    PREDICTIONS

Cincinnati will put its 28-game home winning streak on the line.  The Bearcats’ home winning streak is the second-longest in the nation behind Clemson (36).

While Cincinnati has proven to be tough to beat at home, and they took down the Hoosiers a year ago, we don’t really see much separating these two programs.  This will be a close game that comes down to which team makes (or avoids) big mistakes.

    TDH:  CINCINNATI 27  INDIANA 24

    CFN:  Cincinnati 34  Indiana 20

    ESPN SP+ (Computer) Cincinnati 38  Indiana 15

ESPN FPI:  Indiana 12.5 percent chance to win
