Indiana will get star receiver Elijah Sarratt back for their regular season finale at Purdue, head coach Curt Cignetti said on Monday afternoon.
Sarratt missed the last three games with a hamstring injury. He suffered the injury on Oct. 25 when IU faced UCLA. Sarratt has 45 catches for 609 yards and 10 touchdowns this season.
Meanwhile, defensive end Mikail Kamara, who has been dealing with a shoulder injury and missed most of IU’s win over Wisconsin, is also expected to start, Cignetti said.
While he has just one sack on the season, Kamara has a team high 40 quarterback pressures.
The Hoosiers could also get starting left guard Drew Evans back Cignetti said, but his status will be determined over the course of this week. Evans, who has been dealing with an undisclosed injury, has not played since the UCLA game.
Indiana is coming off a bye week after playing six Big Ten games in a row. It’s given everyone in the program a chance to refresh ahead of the rivalry game and the postseason.
“It was a much-needed off week, playing six games in a row late in the year. I think everybody that’s playing is banged up, and I think the entire organization was a little tired,” Cignetti said. “I could feel it, sense it, Penn State week and Wisconsin week, so I think it came at a really good time.
“Everybody seems to be refreshed. There was a lot of spirit at practice yesterday, and I can tell in the office everybody is rested up, so it’s a good thing.”
Indiana (11-0, 8-0) will face Purdue (2-9, 0-8) Friday at 7:30 p.m. ET in West Lafayette, Ind. (NBC).
