Indiana has reinforcements coming for special teams in 2026.
The Hoosiers have added a punter and long snapper for next season.
Melbourne, Australia based punter Billy Gowers is headed to Bloomington. The Hawaii transfer arrives with three seasons of eligibility remaining. He’ll turn 30 this summer following a career playing Australian Rules Football.
Gowers averaged 46.2 yards on 49 punts in 2025 — good for No. 10 nationally. He placed 25 punts inside the 20, and had 18 that went for more than 50 yards. Gowers had the top punting grade in the nation at PFF.
Iowa State transfer long snapper Drew Clausen is also headed to IU.
Clausen was the starting long snapper for the Cyclones each of the last two seasons, and at Northern Iowa before that. He has one year of eligibility remaining. The 6-foot-6 and 260-pound product of Grimes, Iowa has played in 39 career games.
The Hoosiers are set to lose starting punter Mitch McCarthy and long snapper Mark Langston following the conclusion of the 2025 season.
