Follow along with live updates below as the Hoosiers take on Michigan State in Bloomington Sunday afternoon.

And join us in the discussion thread below to share your views.

Indiana and the Spartans tip at 3:45 p.m. ET on CBS.

    ———————————————————————–

FINAL: No. 13 Michigan State 77, Indiana 64

Indiana drops its second consecutive game, and lets another Quad 1 opportunity go to waste. The Hoosiers continue trending towards the wrong side of the bubble.

    SECOND HALF

Final media timeout: 72-62 Michigan State.

    • Lamar Wilkerson’s amazing second half continues. He’s up to 29 points on the day now.
    • The student section has been pretty harsh on Reed Bailey today, booing almost every time he’s checked in. But they switched to somewhat sarcastic cheers on his latest entry, and turned to chanting his name and genuinely cheering after a few good plays.
    • Still, this is a big mountain for IU to climb here. The team has fought hard in the second half, but Michigan State hasn’t given up much ground.

MSU leads 69-57 at the under-8.

    • Indiana cut the deficit to five points a few times, but Michigan State has responded with big shots every time. Kur Teng has just been a thorn in IU’s side today, with 18 points on 6-for-8 shooting, all from 3-point range.
    • Lamar Wilkerson is having a terrific second half. 14 points already since halftime, up to 24 on the day. Shooting 9 for 17, and 4 for 11 from 3-point range. He entered today 15 threes shy of tying Steve Alford’s single-season record of 107, in 1987. Alford did that in 34 games, while this is Wilkerson’s 29th of the season.
    • Sam Alexis briefly went down the tunnel, but returned to the end of the bench quickly and is already back in the game.

    57-50 Spartans at the under-12.

    • Indiana’s fighting a little harder in the second half so far. Hoosiers are out-scoring MSU 13-12 since halftime, but just going a little harder than they did in the first half.
    • Tucker DeVries is up to 18 points, his most since the Rutgers game in late January. He’s been important for IU today.

First media timeout of the second half: Michigan State leads IU 50-41.

    • IU’s offense remains cold, 1 for 6 from the field to start the half. Defensive effort has been a little better, perhaps. But Indiana still has a lot of ground to make up.

Game is back on in Bloomington after a tremendous halftime show by The Firecrackers. The jump rope girls usually do a halftime show here late in the season, and they always deliver. The ovation the crowd gave them after their performance was as loud as any moment from the first half of the basketball game.

HALFTIME: Michigan State 45, Indiana 37

    • IU is probably fortunate it isn’t worse here. The Hoosiers closed the half on an 11-6 run after DeVries’ timeout.
    • The foul trouble is a big issue inside. Reed Bailey and Sam Alexis both at three fouls, when IU is already on the wrong end of a size mismatch. I’m starting to wonder if Andrej Acimovic could get some run today.
    • Lamar Wilkerson scored 10 points for IU, but he was not especially good in that first half. A lot of questionable shot decisions, and just not really giving IU the spark it needs from him.

    FIRST HALF

Darian DeVries calls a timeout with IU down 39-26 with 4:22 left. Some of the crowd started booing.

    • It came after Kur Teng hit another three, his fourth of the first half. He baited Tayton Conerway into leaping too early and then calmly knocked down the shot.
    • There’s just not a single thing I can point to in this first half and say, “Yeah, IU is doing that well right now.” It’s been all Sparty.

30-20 Michigan State at the under-8.

    • Tucker DeVries leads IU with eight points. He and Nick Dorn are tied for the team lead with two rebounds.
    • Jaxon Kohler leads MSU with 14 points on 4-for-5 shooting. IU has struggled with that matchup. Anyone guarding him is just giving up too much size.
    • A real problem for IU in the frontcourt on top of that: both Sam Alexis and Reed Bailey now have two fouls.
    • MSU shooting: 64 percent from the field, 4 for 7 from 3-point range. Indiana: 28 percent from the field, 3 for 14 from beyond the arc. A good recipe to build a double-digit deficit.

Hoosiers are down by double digits already at the under-12 timeout. It’s 21-10 Michigan State.

    • IU had a 5-0 mini-spurt, with a Tucker DeVries layup off a turnover, to cut the score to 14-10. That got Assembly Hall loud. But Michigan State responded.
    • Indiana just looks overmatched so far, on both ends. The Hoosiers offense is struggling to handle MSU’s switching defense, and IU’s defense is losing its assignments too often.

MSU leads 11-5 at the first media timeout.

    • Darian DeVries looked pretty upset with his defense in the first few minutes, and it’s hard to blame him with the looks Michigan State got. The Spartans are 4 for 5 from the field.
    • IU’s offense is ice cold, 1 for 7 from the field. There’s still plenty of time here, but these are not promising early signs.

It’s game time at Assembly Hall. The stands have filled in. Pretty full crowd for this one. It’s loud here.

    PREGAME NOTES

Starting lineup remains the same for Indiana.

    Crowd theme today:  White Out.

Special logo on the court:  Big Ten “Rivalry Series.”

Recruiting guest:  2027 commit Chase Branham.

No surprises on the injury report for either team.
