As Indiana shows interest in transfer portal prospects we’ll provide a quick profile with our transfer portal names to know series.

Of course we’ll cover prospects more if things progress beyond initial interest.

Next up is Belmont transfer point guard Ja’Kobi Gillespie.

Gillespie was named to the 2024 Missouri Valley Conference Most-Improved Team and Second Team All-Conference after the 6-1 guard built upon the foundation of his outstanding 2023 campaign, developing into one of the most impactful players in the MVC this season.

Ranking among league leaders in seven statistical categories, Gillespie averages 17.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 2.2 steals per game.  He shot 56.1 percent from the field overall, including 38.7 percent from three.  He also shot 83.1 percent at the free throw line.
Through the regular season, the Greeneville, Tennessee native had 38 career double figure scoring games, 19 games of five or more assists, and 15 games of three or more steals.

Highlighting his importance, Belmont (20-13) lost six of seven games when Gillespie was out with an injury.

In his first college season a year ago, Gillespie made the Missouri Valley Conference All-Freshman Team after he averaged 9.6 points, 2.1 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.5 steals per game.

Gillespie should have two years of eligibility remaining.  His sophomore season highlights are below.
