Indiana native and 2025 IU basketball target Jalen Haralson made the USA Basketball Men’s U17 National Team following five days of training camp in Colorado Springs.

The U17 national team, chosen from the 34 participants, will compete at the 2024 FIBA U17 Men’s World Cup, scheduled for June 29-July 7 in Istanbul.

Selections were made by the USA Basketball Men’s Developmental National Team Committee.

Haralson, a 6-foot-6 guard/wing from Fishers, Ind., placed IU in his top-nine schools earlier this year.  He will take an official visit to IU the weekend of Aug. 31, and he plans to decide on a college in the fall.

Now playing at La Lumiere in northern Indiana, Haralson is a national top-20 and 5-star recruiting prospect.

Another IU basketball class of 2025 target, big man Chris Cenac also made the squad.

The full 2024 USA Basketball Men’s U17 National Team, representing high school graduating classes of 2025 and 2026, includes Cameron Boozer, Cayden Boozer, Chris Cenac Jr., AJ Dybantsa, Jalen Haralson, Caleb Holt, JJ Mandaquit, Brandon McCoy Jr., Koa Peat, Jordan Smith Jr., Tyran Stokes and Jaden Toombs.

All 12 athletes have USA Basketball experience with eight previously making a national team.

The 2024 USA Men’s U17 National Team will be led by head coach Sharman White (Pace Academy, GA) and assistant coaches Scott Fitch (Fairport HS, NY) and Chet Mason (Brush HS, OH).

The USA has won the gold medal at each iteration of the FIBA U17 Men’s World Cup, dating back to 2010. In addition to six consecutive gold medals, the U.S. has not dropped a game in tournament history (44-0 all-time record).

The seventh edition of the FIBA Men’s U17 World Cup features 16 teams from around the world. All 16 teams will advance to the single-elimination tournament after group play.

The U.S. will take on France in their opening game on June 29 at 10:30 a.m. ET. On June 30, the USA will face Guinea for the first time ever, tipping off at 8:00 a.m. ET. Group B play closes with China at 5:30 a.m. ET on July 2 with the U.S. looking to improve to 5-0 all-time against the Chinese.
