After visiting Indiana with his mother over the weekend, class of 2026 Michigan based point guard Jonathan Sanderson was offered by the IU staff.
Sanderson announced the offer on his Instagram page.
Now a sophomore, the 6-foot-2 Sanderson started as a freshman at Saline H.S. (Saline, Mich.) and had a massive first-year campaign. He was named second team AP all-state after averaging 19.3 points, six rebounds, four assists and 1.5 steals per contest. He also shot 91 percent from the free-throw line and 46 percent from the 3-point line.
For spring and summer basketball, Sanderson plays for the Midwest Basketball Club on the Adidas circuit. That’s the same program that produced current IU guard Gabe Cupps.
Sanderson’s father Jon is the strength and conditioning coach for the Michigan basketball team, a role he’s held since 2009. A native of Mansfield, Ohio, the elder Sanderson played college basketball at Ohio State (1997-99) and Ohio (2000-02).
Sanderson also visited Indiana in August. He also claims offers from Virginia, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Purdue, Michigan, Iowa and Illinois from the high major ranks.
Sanderson is just the second player offered by Indiana in the 2026 class.
