Indiana has offered one of the fastest rising and most dynamic players in the 2028 class.
Rising junior Yann Kamagate has received an offer from the IU staff after they watched him during the weekend live recruiting period.
The 7-foot Kamagate attends St. Francis Academy La Canada Flintridge just north of Los Angeles. He played in New York a year ago — his first year in the United States.
A native of Brukina Faso in West Africa, Kamagate has only been playing basketball for about three years. A former soccer player, he is long, athletic, has good feet and hands, and flashes some ability to shoot from the perimeter.
Kamagate is currently unranked but will likely end up being a 5-star when the ranking services make their next updates.
In addition to IU, Kamagate has seen a wave of offers recently, including Kansas, North Carolina, Arizona, Texas A&M, Baylor, Houston, Creighton, USC, UCLA, Nebraska and Washington. That list will continue to rapidly expand.
For travel basketball, Kamagate plays for the Compton Magic on the Adidas 3SSB Circuit. He plays up on the 17u circuit. He’s averaging 13.9 points, a circuit-high 10.4 rebounds and 2.9 blocks in eight games this spring.
