IU basketball’s top remaining recruiting target in the high school class of 2027 is announcing his college choice on Tuesday.
And he’s trending towards the Hoosiers.
6-foot-11 Darius Wabbington is down to Indiana, Arizona and Illinois. He’ll announce his decision at 5 p.m. ET tomorrow (Tuesday).
National Rivals recruiting analysts Joe Tipton and Jamie Shaw have both placed predictions Wabbington will pick Indiana.
He would be one of the highest-rated recruits to ever commit to IU.
Based on the average of the national rankings, Wabbington is a 5-star, the No. 13 overall player in the senior class, and the No. 2 center.
Wabbington attends Sunnyslope H.S. in Arizona, and he led the school to an open state championship. He averaged 17.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game as a high school junior.
This spring, Wabbington posted 13.6 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game while shooting over 38% from three for the Compton Magic on the Adidas 3SSB Circuit.
He was named to the USA Basketball U18 National Team.
With everyone on the current team eligible to return next year, Wabbington would round out a solid roster for 2027-28, and add to an already solid 2027 recruiting class.
Indiana currently has two commits in the 2027 class — 4-star guard Chase Branham, and 7-foot German center Felix Kiehlneker.
