One of the best players in the class of 2027 announced an Indiana offer on Monday.
5-star wing Ryan Hampton announced an IU offer from head coach Darian DeVries and assistant coach Rod Clark on his X page.
Hampton is the younger brother of NBA guard R.J. Hampton. His father Roderick Hampton also played Division I basketball for SMU from 1987-1991.
The 6-foot-6 and 190-pound Hampton attends Dynamic Prep (Irving, Texas), a program that reached the Chipotle National finals last month. Dynamic Prep will join Overtime Elite this year.
Based on the average of the national recruiting sites, Hampton is a 5-star prospect in the 2027 class, the No. 3 overall player and the No. 1 shooting guard.
As his ranking suggests, Hampton has all the attributes of a future pro, with length, athleticism and skill. He can play and guard multiple positions, but looks at this point like a high major small forward.
For spring and summer basketball, Hampton plays for Drive Nation on the Nike EYBL Circuit. He averaged 21.7 points and 9.0 rebounds per game on the first circuit stop in April.
Hampton also holds offers from Arizona State, Auburn, Cincinnati, LSU, Oklahoma State, SMU, TCU, Tennessee, Texas A&M and Maryland.
